Test Designer I

This company located in Tualatin, Oregon (near Portland) is seeking a Test Designer I for an estimated 6 month contingent position. As a Test Designer I, you will be part of the team that is responsible for the research, development, and manufacturing of products for the company. In this role, you will be involved in the complete product development lifecycle, working with a cross-functional team to see ideas become reality.

Essential Functions
  • Evaluate new and existing products to industry standards and real-world applications
  • Assist product development engineers with problem solving through specialized and long-term testing and research projects
  • Develop testing equipment and procedures for product evaluations
  • Review customer requirements/specifications and identify proper solutions
  • Prepare basic statement of works, project work plans. Keep lines of communication open on status of assigned projects and activities
  • Provide assistance for priority issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education
  • Associate’s Degree or Technical Certification in Computer Science, Engineering or related field

Experience
  • 0 to 3 years’ experience in product test engineering is required

Skills
  • Must have the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite for Windows
  • Knowledge of testing Ethernet, Wifi based smart products and related systems.
  • Skilled in setting up network devices like routers, access points and testing performance of connected products.
  • Knowledge of network troubleshooting tools and logging software.
  • Must have an understanding of electrical wiring and safety practices
  • Must be capable of working with electronics lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, ammeters, voltmeters and basic hand tools including soldering
  • Must be able to read and interpret technical procedures, circuit diagrams, schematics, and specifications
  • Must have the ability to write reports;
  • Must have the ability to determine how products operate and are utilized, including installation
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

Travel
  • Less than 5% required
