As the Senior Engineer, Technology Infrastructure - Storage & Backup, you will be responsible for the design, installation, and operations of Storage Area Network (SAN), Network-Attached Storage (NAS) and Backup infrastructure that enables us to deliver world-class technology services. - Configure shared file data for access via Server Message Blocks (SMB) and Network File System (NFS) clients using Windows, Unix, and multi-protocol security models
- Manage Backup systems, their operations and
- Monitor and manage storage systems environments capacity utilizations
- Develop standards and automate routine processes to help scale the infrastructure while improving service delivery times and streamlining operations
- Implement cost-effective data protection strategies including point-in-time snapshots, asynchronous data replication, and cloud archive
- Implement storage tier policies to cost-effectively meet performance and availability requirements ranging from high-performance premise-based solutions to low-cost cloud archive; identify cost-saving opportunities through development of business team relationships and understanding solution options
- Perform data migrations to support datacenter consolidation and the refresh of legacy architectures; identify capacity trends and plan proactive upgrades
- Lead troubleshooting of data access, authentication, and performance incident reports
- What you need to succeed at XPO:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
- 2 years of relevant work experience
- Experience with SAN block storage operations and management using one or more of Pure Storage, NetApp platforms; knowledge of SAN zoning using Brocade or Cisco fiber channel switching
- Solid understanding of FC, SMB, NFSv3, NFSv4, Secure NFS, DNS, DFS, and deployment considerations in the enterprise; experience working with file data architectures spanning multiple windows domains
- Experience using enterprise-grade data protection features including crash consistent and application consistent point-in-time data copies, and asynchronous data replication
- Experience managing data retention / backup technologies to safeguard the available and recoverability of systems and data
- Strong collaboration with Server, End-User Computing, and Networking teams
- Extensive experience with NetApp FAS cDOT NAS platforms preferably in multi-tenant configurations
- Solid working knowledge of IP network fundamentals used in enterprise file data architectures - VLAN tagging, port-channels, network routing
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Experience as a Linux Systems Administrator or Windows Systems Administrator; using public cloud storage solutions offered by Amazon S3 or Microsoft Azure; working with object storage technologies; with Linux or Windows based tools/processes to leverage dynamic presentation of SAN-based data copies; using vendor-provided APIs
- Proficiency in one or more scripting languages: PowerShell, Python, shell scripting
- Rubrik data protection platform
- Experience working with servers in highly virtualized environment
