Green Diamond Resource Company has an exciting new job available for someone to join our company as an IFM/Inventory Technician. We are located on the beautiful coast of Northern California near the Oregon border. This is a unique role is for someone interested in pursuing a career in silviculture/forestry. This position divides the calendar year between the Intensive Forest Management (IFM) Department and the Forest Resource Information Systems (FRIS) Department. The work format in IFM includes performing various reforestation and pre-commercial thinning project related tasks, data collection associated with monitoring the results and progress of the reforestation projects and assisting with monitoring the work of the various project contractors. While working in FRIS this position will support collection of high-quality data for a variety of inventory related tasks which monitor the location and growth of company owned timber stands.

This position under both disciplines will be supervised by a current California RPF (Registered Professional Forester). This allows accumulation of hours to eventually sit for the RPF licensing exam. This is a full time, year-round position with an excellent wage and benefit package.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree in forest management, natural resources or closely related fields of study or equivalent work experience.

Demonstrated use of basic field measurement tools (logger’s tape, clinometer, hand compass, hand level).

Experience in timber cruising and timber data collection.

Education or experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Global Positioning Systems.

Demonstrated competency with personal computers and relevant programs for word processing, data entry and analysis.

Must always maintain a valid CA driver’s license.

Ability to negotiate through rough topography, accurately interpret maps.

Basic understanding how to apply reforestation techniques and Silviculture principles.

Must be able to take responsibility for the quality of his/hers work products as well as his/ hers own personal safe behaviors.

Effective and professional relationships with co-workers within immediate work group, outside the immediate department, and with key contacts outside the company.
