POSITION SUMMARY: Shipping/receiving clerks will perform a combination of manual and clerical shipping and receiving duties. They will use paper and/or computer systems for tracking, logging, verifying and reporting. They will follow shipping practices and procedures, and transportation routing, schedules and requirements. Will receive incoming materials and/or prepare materials for shipment. Shippers/Receivers will (Un) pack or (un)wrap items such as raw stock, assemblies, parts, building materials, office supplies, equipment, etc. Will verify quantity, weight, and conformance of materials to stated requirements; logs receipts of items on system, processes freight bills, packing sheets and other documents; reports materials shipped and bills of lading. Will operate lift truck as required, or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving. Will use company van to deliver and pick up materials from local suppliers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following: other duties may be assigned.

Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment.

Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures.

Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons, using stenciling equipment.

Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.

Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding.

Attaches covers on wooden crates and binds containers using strapping machine.

Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.

Unpacks and examines incoming shipments.

Routes items to departments.

Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.

Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.

Operate lift truck or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving area.

Assist Quality Department with incoming inspections of material – checking dimensions, certs, quantity, heat lots and serialization, etc.

Responsible for maintenance of shipping/receiving areas including cleaning, sweeping, dusting and related activities.

Driver for pick up & delivery as required

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE/OTHER:

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. Some technical education desired

Preferred: Two (2) years of experience in an inventory control capacity within a manufacturing environment

Required: Forklift experience

Required: Valid Driver’s license along with a good driving record (DMV Verified)

MATHEMATICAL, COMPUTER & LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to use personal computer to access and retrieve information
