Overview:

Assist with the fabrication of prototype machines. Learn how the machines operate in order to provide design feedback. Function well within a team but also comfortable working solo. Gain detailed knowledge of Element 1 hydrogen generators in order to provide maximum assistance with assembly, fabrication, and testing of prototypes, but also to provide feedback on the design for manufacturability, durability, and ease of maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Primarily responsible for fabricating and assembly of portions or all of the new prototypes and current products.

Capable of reading 2D prints and then correctly completing the fabrication assembly.

Strong work ethic; conscientious and detail-oriented.

Provide constructive feedback on designs to improve reliability, ease of assembly and maintenance, reduced cost of manufacture.

Capture and document the best manufacturing practices. Proficient at teaching manufacturing methods to contract manufacturers and licensees.

Establish and maintain a clean, professional, safe shop environment. Enforce Company safety policies in the shop area.

Support development of prototype products as time and priorities allow.

Occasional travel to contract manufacturers, customers, and/or vendors may be required. Annual travel is <10%.

Education and Experience

Undergraduate degree in mechanical/manufacturing engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

2 + years’ experience in a metal fabrication position and/or design for manufacturing.

A fabrication and assembly skills demonstration/assessment will be required during the interview:

This skills assessment is to determine the level of proficiency in machining, welding, fabrication, and assembly of metal parts, fittings, and tubing assemblies. A list of tools and machines used during the skills assessment is given below.

1. Bridgeport Milling Machine

2. Metal Lathe

3. TIG Welder (Stainless Steel and Carbon Steel)

4. Band Saw

5. Belt Sander

6. Power Hand Tools – Drill and Grinder

7. Hand Tools – Tubing Bender, Hammers, End Wrenches, Screwdrivers, etc.

8. Measuring and layout tools
