Charming European inspired Coffee Shop & Bakery, Café des Chutes, seeks full time Back of House Staff Member. Desired Candidate is eager to learn about baking or already has basic skills.
This could the perfect job for a Line cook who is interested in Baking and wants a less intense work environment. Conversely, great for a baker who has skills that extend beyond the oven and has worked in a service kitchen therefore is able to manage a more active work environment.
Work Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, chopping, and measuring
- Follow recipes and presentation specifications
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and adhere to proper food handling procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Collaborate with FOH to ensure timely execution of tasks for service
- Assist in inventory management and stock rotation
- Uphold high standards of food quality and consistency
-Mix, shape and bake croissant pastries and other baked goods
-General Prep
Making Jams and Sauces
Slicing meats and cheeses
Building Sandwiches
Making soups and Salads
-Developing Specials
-Cleaning & Maintaining Organization
-Receiving, unpacking , and shelving deliveries
-Dishwashing
-Some Service Support as needed.
-Keeping the pastry case stocked and presentable.
-Basic Admin- utilizing Par sheets, pull sheets, contributing to prep and grocery lists
Qualifications:
Strong applicants will have minimum 2 years of Kitchen experience including some combination of Baking, Prepping, Working a Line and/or Dishwashing
and demonstrate
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food safety standards
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Team player with excellent communication abilities
- Understanding of kitchen equipment operation
- Knowledge of culinary techniques is a plus
-Ability to understand and follow pars
-Ability to forecast and build a comprehensive prep list
-Be self-motivated and able to work autonomously
-Comfort working in tight spaces
-Mise en place!
-Ability to work side by side with others in close quarters
-Use of a step ladder and ability to safely lift 50 lbs required.
Employment is Full Time at 4 days a week, Shifts are 4:45am- 12:45am, Saturday- Tuesday.
Some flexibility and willingness to/trade and or cover shifts with other crew members necessary.
