Roots Art & Nature School is an art and nature-based school that develops children’s sense of wonder, curiosity and creativity, their relationship to their heart and body and their connection to the natural world. Our school provides an intentional and enriching environment that honors the process of the whole child and de-emphasizes rigorous academics.

CLASSROOM ASSISTANT & AFTER SCHOOL ART TEACHER (25 hours per week)

We’re looking for a Classroom Assistant to support our kindergarten and first grade classrooms from 10am-1pm Monday through Thursday and 10am-1pm on Fridays. Ideally the same person will also be our After School Art Teacher Monday through Thursday from 2:30-5:15. Our ideal candidate is super imaginative, playful and ready to jump in and respond to the unique needs and interests of each child. Applicants must have experience working with children, ideally in a nurturing/creative/process-based and/or play-based environment. Experience with art and nature education is a plus!

Qualifications:

Experience working with children ages 4-7.

Strong communication skills with children and adults.

Fun and engaging with kids.

Available for the 2020-2021 school year.

Ideally, candidate will also have a background in:

Outdoor and/or garden education

Play-based learning

Process-based art

Respectful discipline

Alternative or holistic education models (mindfulness, Waldorf, Reggio Emilia)

Benefits:

Compensation is $15 per hour
