Thank you for considering a career at Mercy Health Lead Medical Assistant Job Summary: The Lead Medical Assistant performs nursing procedures and assists physician with patient care tasks. Organizes and coordinates the activities of assigned staff to ensure safe, effective and appropriate work in a fiscally responsible manner. Provides direction and support for MA's, promotes their development and collaborates with leadership. Essential Functions: 50%- Assists Physician, PA and/or APRN during patient exams and procedures. Taking and recording vital signs and entering into medical record system. Record history of patient including medications, allergies, past surgeries, etc. and documents complaints. Makes patient recalls and follow up reports. Protects patient rights of confidentiality and privacy at all times.15%- Documents care performed by correctly charting per office guidelines. Handles patient phone calls relating to medical questions, requests or concerns. Schedules medical procedures at appropriate facilities with coordination of pre-authorization/benefit coverage.5%- Actively assists in maintaining sample closet per policies and procedure rooms. Responsible for keeping supplies stocked and inventoried and providing list of items to be ordered to the Practice Manager.5%- Provides for comfort needs of patients, maintains a safe and attractive environment for patients and co-workers, transports patients and equipment as appropriate. Instills confidence in the patient by maintaining a neat and attractive appearance and performing duties in a compenent and caring manner.5%- Assists in stocking, cleaning, and daily preparation of medical exam and procedure rooms. Verifies that all medical equipment is in working order and sterile.5%- Abstracting of charts and medical records into the electronic medical record system. Accepts reassignment as needed to provide necessary care for all patients.10%- Provides for orientation, in-service training and continue education opportunities to department employees to assure their continued technical proficiency. Responsible for training and orientation all MA & PRN new hire employees in clinical setting. Works effectively with others on various teams to foster cooperation and teamwork toward solutions which generally benefit all involved parties. Creates strong morale and spirit in the team. Looks for alternative ways to work with others that will create improved collaborative results and working relationships. Promotes unity within the office by promoting supportive behavior and displaying a positive attitude.5%- Responsible as the "go to person" regarding troubleshooting issues. Acts as a "Super User" and will attend training sessions and distribute neew information to staff through individual trainings and communications.
