DescriptionGENERAL SUMMARY AND SCOPE Under the supervision of the Psychiatrist, administers the medication program and related policies and procedures; monitors all patients for whom psychiatric medications are prescribed; and coordinates the Central Pharmacy Program for the indigent chronically mentally ill. When necessary, provides initial assessments on new clients prior to their first appointment with the Psychiatrist. Provides crisis assistance and other assigned services as needed for the operation of the department commensurate with caseload and the achievement of productivity standards. Under the supervision of Site Director, complies with all documentation and licensure agency policies and procedures. Maintains standards of professional nursing utilizing evidence-based practices.ESSENTIAL TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvides diagnostic Assessment and follow-up appointments for patients being discharged from the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit prior to prescriber appointments as needed. Provides crisis assistance and other assigned services as needed for the operation of the department commensurate with caseload and the achievement of the productivity standards.

Strictly adheres to all established policies and procedures, and evidence-based practice standards relative to the provision of Nursing Services and the Central Pharmacy Program.

Administers Central Pharmacy drugs and prescriptions to patients at appropriate time intervals, working within the projected Central Pharmacy budget to the extent possible. Notifies the respective Site Director in a timely manner of any concerns related to the Central Pharmacy budget (over or under utilization of available funds).

Observes patients for recurrence of symptoms or possible need for medication adjustment. Monitors records for possible misuse of prescribed medication claims. Alerts prescriber of any concerns and site director as needed to promote patient safety.

Reviews charts and maintains records in compliance with the standards developed by appropriate licensure agencies and continuous quality improvement criteria for the medication program. Completes progress notes in a timely manner. Makes recommendations to the Psychiatrist for ordering appropriate tests, etc.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESRN with current Ohio license.

Current CPR and BLS certification required and re-certification bi-annually.

Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and be insurable under Firelands' auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.

Computer skills sufficient to learn and utilize the electronic medical record are a mandatory requirement for all direct service staff and supervisory staff.

Sensitive to the cultural needs of the individual and/or family served.

Punctual attendance at assigned work location is required.

Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner and maintain an accident free work place, including ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of emergency codes. Page 3 of 5

Ability to comply with OSHA regulations and CDC standard and transmission-based precaution recommendations and to utilize proper personal protective equipment. Ability to comply with provisions of applicable S.D.S. forms.

Successful completion of a ninety (90) day probationary period.
