Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced
GIS Specialist inRaleigh, NC.Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesof a successful candidate include but are not limited to:- Generatingand maintaining geo database layers and associated attribute information
- DevelopingGeographic Databases through use of GIS/GPS and advanced technologies for specialized purposes such as E-911 addressing and Utility Mapping
- Usingvarious ESRI GIS software as well as various geographic data formats and standard data conversion and transformation methods, for geographic analysis
- Creatingmaps, reports, and presentations in support of various GIS and technology projects
- Participating as needed, in meetings with Technology Services and client staff to fully understand expected project outcomes
- Working cooperatively with GIS Analysts, Technicians and/or Project Managers to complete assigned work
- Proactively seeks input and clarification from other employees assigned to given projects in order to minimize time spent in performing the essential duties of the position
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Skills/Requirementsof a successful candidate include but are not limited to:- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training
- Ideal candidates will have transportation department (DOT) experience
- Ideal candidates will have at least two years of related work experience
- Should be working toward or should have already received ArcGIS Desktop Associate Certification through ESRI
- Must have strong computer skills that extend into GIS/RS/GPS application software and Internet
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills
- Expertise identifying, obtaining, manipulating and organizing essential information
- Must exhibit strong active listening, feedback and problem determination skills
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and manage time and workload to ensure deadlines are met
- Technical expertise obtaining, manipulating, and organizing information; defining, planning, and implementing analyses, processes and projects
- Must be able to work with minimal direction to complete tasks and solve problems
