The Retirement Business Services Technology (RBS) team provides product and application-based design, development, testing, deployment, and production support to the Retirement Business Services business units. Particularly in support of web, trustee, custodial, recordkeeping and compliance products for Schwab Corporate and Retirement Services third party provider retirement product and compliance offerings.

This is a motivated Scrum Master role that will be responsible for 1-3 Scrum teams as part of the Schwab Retirement Technologies organization. These teams are focused on API and Security modernizations along with Mobile and Web enhancement initiatives. The candidate should have a passion for technology, innovation, excellence and enjoys fast-paced environment, thrive under ambiguity, and embrace change passionately. We are moving towards a Test-Driven development and Continuous Integration environment using Bamboo and Bit Bucket. The candidate will work alongside a team of junior and seasoned engineers whose main objective is to maintain all aspects of the overall software development lifecycle and ensure the on-time, quality delivery of software product releases.

What you are good at

  • Lead and coach teams on Agile processes and technical matters to increase efficiencies
  • Successfully organize and facilitate routine Scrum ceremonies while partnering with Product/Business owners on a healthy backlog and product release strategy
  • Leads multiple projects requiring cross-team collaboration and external collaboration
  • Maintains and validates the project scope, plans, and schedules for moderately complex projects; adheres to established metrics for project success; applies standards (e.g., delivery process, roles and responsibilities, operational norms, compliance)
  • Analyzes multiple sources of information and evaluates several alternative solutions before confirming path forward, highly skilled in planning & prioritization, risk identification & management, and time & productivity management

What you have

  • Schwab Retirement Technologies system & domain knowledge
  • 1-3 years of experience as a Scrum Master or relative work experience
  • Aptitude to support 1-3 scrums teams
  • Experience in a software development environment especially with cross-team dependencies
  • Scrum Master certification and ability to use multiple (Kanban, Scrum, and SAFe) methodologies
  • 1-2 years of experience with PI Planning, SAFe knowledge, and practice
  • Strong understanding of agile product development processes and procedures and experience managing projects that involve technical complexity
  • Experience interacting with high-level individual contributors, and managers regularly
  • Basic to advanced business networking, facilitation, conflict management, negotiation, change management, and presentation & demonstration skills
  • Works independently, receives some guidance and direction from manager when needed, then determines best approach to accomplish work
  • Receives little instruction on day-to-day work, some guidance on new assignments
  • Proficiency with JIRA, Confluence, and other project/agile management tools
  • Open and enthusiastic about learning new processes and software tools
  • Experience as a Charles Schwab employee or contractor is a must for this role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMI-ACP, SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), Certified Scrum Practitioner (CSP) or Scrum Master (CSM) certification

Nice to Have:

  • Experience coaching individuals on technical matters by sharing technical knowledge
  • Willingly able to help others when asked on technical issues
