Position Overview

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer as a member of a growing and highly skilled software design and engineering team. Alongside software development, the Senior DevOps Engineer will design, introduce, promote and evolve software engineering excellence based on industry standards and best practices and personal experience.

Responsibilities:

Technical leadership and mentorship of a DevOps engineering team - including assisting with on-boarding and training of junior team members.
Design, evolve, maintain and secure the team's continuous build, integration and deployment strategies and infrastructure using a variety of Amazon's Web Services offerings and supporting production AWS applications.
Implement and enforce the principles of modern, services-based system architecture within the engineering team.
Sustainably drive the team towards the selection of appropriate tools and technologies.
Specify, architect and design products with excellent operational characteristics.

Required qualifications:

8+ years experience in technology related to software development, IT, and operations.
5+ years experience as a cloud DevOps engineer supporting services such as AWS, Azure, GCP, etc. with at least 3 recent years in AWS specifically.
Hands-on development experience with Python, Node.js or Typescript or other scripting languages.
Experience using a variety of Amazon's Web Services (AWS) offerings and supporting production AWS applications including deploying AWS Lambda services.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
History in defining and operating virtual and cloud-based infrastructure and services following the infrastructure as code principle.
Hands-on experience with build automation and continuous integration tools.
Monitoring, alerting and reporting enterprise-level infrastructure.
A good understanding and appreciation of the Agile software development process.
Ability to work to a sprint plan, track progress, identify risks, anticipate and communicate delays to the team.
Team player with the ability to both articulate thoughts and opinions but also listen and compromise.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced professional.
Good verbal and written communications skills.
B.S. in computer science or equivalent experience.

Nice to have:

Experience with cloud security (DevSecOps)
Experience with DataDog, AWS CloudWatch, AWS CloudTrail or other cloud monitoring solutions
Experience with Jira Service Desk (JSD), Jira Service Management (JSM) or Atlassian Ops Genie for issue and incident management
