RESPONSIBILITIES:Kforce has a client in Raleigh, NC that is looking for a remote Network Security Engineer.

Summary:The client is looking for an experienced Network Security Engineer to join our recently created team to operate the full life cycle of the Next Generation Palo Alto technology deployment within the organization. Our customers are internal technical staff all over the world. This is a rare opportunity to grow a new -green field- high-value network security service based on the latest technology, which will be deployed globally with a multi-year service period. This new service will embody the most recent security control concepts, technologies, and automation tooling. A successful candidate will have background in providing Network engineering and administration within operations environments as well as a strong understanding of TCP/IP. This is your chance to expand your skill set into Palo Alto Technology and become an SME.

The team contains a unique mix of skills, including Network Architects, Software Developers/Automation Engineers, Security SMEs.

Responsibilities: Network Security Engineer will work with a squad of security professionals (3rd tier on-call rotation and occasional after-hours maintenances might take place) Project based work identifying requirements, specs, building POCs, testing, deploying, and supporting your creation Day to day operation of next generation firewalls, including firewall device health and availability management, change and incident management Network Security Engineer will be responding to network and security events and event mitigations (3rd line of escalation; We do have an Operations department which operates 24/7 and takes the escalations before they get to us)

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or over 7 years of experience in Network and Security technologies with some college 5+ years of experience with Cisco or Juniper Network routers and switches 5+ years of experience with packet level analysis with WireShark and tcpdump 3+ years of experience routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP 3+ years of experience managing various firewall technologies such as Cisco or Checkpoint with Palo Alto preferred At least 3 years of experience in Operations Role in a 24x7 SOC environment Knowledge of Security concepts and ability to apply them to business processes Experience with monitoring network and security events and conducting incident response operations per documented procedures and industry best practices Experience with analyzing log files with the ability troubleshoot complex issues

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience: Industry recognized security certifications this can include security methodology (e.g., CISSP, CISA, ITIL, etc.) or vendor specific (product) certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCSE, CCSP, JNCIS, PCNSA, etc.) Experience with IDS/IPS, Proxy, DLP, & SIEM Solutions Automation skills, specifically include the application of automation to firewall operations Programming in Perl or Python, Bash/Shell Strong team oriented interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interface with a broad range of internal/external contacts and roles, including vendors and IT-business personnel Strong analytical skills Ability to work proactively and independently managing multiple work streams with shifting priorities
