Manufacturing Engineer

12+ month contract/project position onsite in Monroe NC location. Candidate must have Bachelors degree in Engineering and experience with electrical and mechanical manufacturing,

APQP, PFMEA, CP, Capability Studies, POKE-YOKE, Assembly Station and Process Design, and Statistics. Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship. No C2C or B2B. No relocation assistance. Must be able to commute to Monroe NC daily.

Job Summary:

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Manufacturing Engineer to help eliminate customer complaints by work on Zero Defects Initiative (ZDI) . Following the Zero Defects Initiative (ZDI), perform the following: Collection of failure data from sources such as Scrap, Rework, Warranty, Customer Complaints, and Capability Studies. Update PFMEA based on analysis of data collected. Perform line by line of updated PFMEA review on the production line. Update CP and Operator Instructions based on Risks Identified. Develop, validate and implement error-proofing techniques to mitigate risks identified in PFMEAs.

Manufacturing Engineer - Ability to develop and implement mechanical and electrical testing to quickly identify defects, and digital programming and visualization solutions to mitigate High Risk issues identified in ZDI. Ensure that manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental regulations Upgrade systems and processes with new technology Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors. Design, install, or troubleshoot manufacturing equipment. Design testing methods and test finished products or process capabilities to establish standards or validate process requirements. Collaborate with other engineers, contractors and suppliers Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods. Prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures. Purchase equipment, materials, or parts. Train production personnel in new methods. Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes. Interaction. Establishes and cultivates a network of support (laboratory, quality, manufacturing, engineering, sales, and marketing) to facilitate completion of assignments. Participate in brainstorming sessions and cross-departmental meetings to ensure collaborating and cohesion Leads projects to develop processes, procedures, test equipment, and tooling used to produce and test final assembly products, related sub-assemblies and new products. Implements and monitor new processes for new product designs or changes in existing designs; verify processes specifications, functional and /or environmental test requirements and need for poke yoke assembly process and fixtures.

Basic Qualifications: Possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution. Minimum five (5) years of Manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment. Must have hands on working knowledge of the following skill sets: Problem Solving APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) MSA (Measurement System Analysis) (GRR's) Capability Studies SPC GDT (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Computer Skills (Word, Lotus Notes, Lotus 123, Freelance).

Preferred Qualifications: Minimum seven (7) years of Manufacturing Engineering with experience. Degree in Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Industrial Engineering. Proficient in Process FMEA, Control Plans and Flow Diagraming. Broad detailed knowledge of manufacturing processes (electrical, mechanical, automation and pneumatics). Knowledge of digital data acquisition tools and techniques.
