Home Health Aide (Halifax County)

We are looking for someone to live in at my father’s home on Lake Gaston to assist with his care and give relief to his caregiver wife. He is in the early stages of dementia and becoming more forgetful. He is fully functional and in reasonably good health for 88, and needs someone who can keep him safe, hydrated, and support him with easy games, reading and light exercise as he moves about the house and community. He is a well-mannered and nice man.

The home aide does not have to be fully credentialed yet as he currently has no physical health conditions requiring skilled nursing care.

This would be a good opportunity to have room and board covered while also earning a salary, or for someone who is interested in starting a home care career or a person near or at retirement from nursing or a related field. If you are in Nursing school and don’t want to study online you could take a gap year to build your résumé.

Should have experience in health care, Wellness-related field and be energetic. There will be a criminal and financial background check prior to hiring. You will need your own car. We are looking for a minimum one year commitment.

Generous salary along with nice private room in home by the lake and board (all meals). Two days per week off, other paid time off, holiday pay, and breaks during the day. Must be willing to be on-call overnight, though he generally sleeps through the night. Some cooking and light chores, but there is a cleaning service for the home and morning shift coverage so you can sleep in if he does wander a bit. There are no health benefits, you would need to cover that from the salary if you so choose.

Looking for a pre-Thanksgiving start date, but flexible within that timeframe.
