Description You could become a Controller with a reputable Construction/Contractor company working with Robert Half, if you have a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, and making critical decisions and have experience taking charge of an accounting and clerical department. If you are good at planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff, this role might be right for you. The permanent Controller position is situated in the Charlotte, North Carolina area.Your responsibilities
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Complete tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection
Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required
Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation Requirements - Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines
CPA/MBA preferred
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Knowledge of Job Cost
Strong familiarity with month end closings
Foundational knowledge in journal entries
Sage Timberline experience
Comprehensive knowledge of Sage 300
Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued
Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills
Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"
Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired
