AS400 Production Support Engineer

Matlen Silver is actively recruiting for a Level 2/3 AS400 Production Support Engineer Consultant to work for our client's capital markets production support team to provide front line technical application support to end users throughout the U.S. This includes responding to issues related to Problem/Incident Management, Release/Deployment, Operational Readiness, Application Monitoring, Production Governance related to issues.

• Provides monitoring and support for triaging AS400 iSeries problems and coordinating with various support teams across the organization including activities related to application incident and problem management.
• Performs root cause analysis and communicates with the line of business and management the overall status and health of the application throughout the support process.
• Looks for areas of improvement in monitoring, application stability, and speed of determining root cause.
• Work closely with Technology Infrastructure Teams, Development & Testing Teams in supporting Integrated / Independent releases, software/hardware upgrades, server upgrades.
• Performs real-time restoration and triaging of issues impacting technical services (application/infrastructure) to customers and partners in a timely manner while keeping partners advised of significant progress or challenges during the restoration period.
• Assesses initial severity, gathers impacts, creates tickets in Remedy, engages necessary support teams, and escalates as necessary to ensure timely restoration.

• Five (5) plus years of production support experience working with enterprise developed applications on AS400 iSeries.
• Hands on troubleshooting experience of UNIX/Linux OS and Relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server)
• Experience with Geneos ITRS, Splunk, or Autosys nice to have
• ITIL certification recommended
• Exposure to Back and Front Office Operations in investment banking environment
