Job Description:

We are looking for an expert Quartz/Python software engineer to work in the XVA Technology team. The XVA trading desk is part of the Counterparty Portfolio Management (CPM) line of business focused on managing counterparty credit risk (CVA) and funding risk (FVA) in the Bank's derivatives portfolio. The XVA Technology team supporting the trading desk are a close-knit and high-performing global agile development team where collaboration and communication is key.

The successful candidate will work primarily on RADAR, an enterprise XVA data reporting application leveraging Oracle database and Quartz (the Bank's strategic front-to-back cross-asset risk and trading platform featuring a flexible Python scripting environment). The successful candidate will design and implement Python and database solutions for complex business data management/reporting requirements. The role entails following the full development lifecycle using Agile development methodologies to deliver new functionality iteratively, assist with testing and deployment of new releases, and provide 3rd level production support. The role also involves working closely with Trading, Quant, Finance and Risk teams in New York and London, as well as business analysts and project managers in Technology.

This role would suit an exceptionally smart experienced Python lead developer who is looking to work on a high-profile application in a critical business area.

Required Skills:
  • Strong Python knowledge and experience
  • 5+ years development experience in a financial firm
  • Ability to translate user requirements into working code
  • Excellent problem solving / investigation abilities.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and team-working skills

Desired Skills:
  • Experience of development on an enterprise-scale Python platform Oracle DB development, including PL-SQL, index strategies, performance tuning and optimization for large scale databases
  • Knowledge of derivatives and fixed income markets
  • Ability to work closely with business groups including Trading, Finance, Quant and Markey Risk Exposure to Agile methodology
  • Experience in CVA, FVA, Credit Risk Management and CSAs

LOB General:

Responsible for developing and delivering complex software requirements to accomplish business goals. Ensures that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. Codes solutions, unit tests, and ensures the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system with clear, robust and well-tested interfaces. Familiar with development and testing practices of the bank. Contributes to story refinement/defining requirements. Participates and guides team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle. Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas. Codes solutions and unit tests to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements. Assists team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work. Contributes to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance); Analyzes test reports, identifies any test issues/errors; Triages the underlying cause. Documents and communicates required information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality. Participates, contributes and can coach team members in the delivery/release (CI-CD) events. e.g. branching timelines, pull requests, issue triage, merge/conflict resolution, release notes.
