As part of the global quality team, the Quality Engineer will have a wide breath of technical & leadership responsibility, for the VIAVI Rochester site, such as QMS, audits, RMA, customer returns, PCN, NCMR, etc. Job Responsibilities : - Supports ISO 9001: 2015 activities- Provides guidance and training pertaining to the QMS requirements, procedures, work instructions, and electronic reporting tools- Promotes a culture of continuous process improvement & innovation throughout the organization by example and training- Provides leadership, oversight, maintenance, and training pertaining to the QMS document control system- Supports internal and process audits in support of the QMS and customer requirements- Investigates in-house and field failures (returns) and provides analysis, reports and guidance on trends- Collects, analyzes, and summarizes data for various internal and external customers- Leads CARs; supports the use of structured problem solving and root cause analysis tools, and supports implementation of corrective action plans- Aids in the management of the non-conformance system- Facilitates the preparation of product and process quality control plans and leads the effort to provide meaningful reports designed to highlight trends and drive continuous improvement- Perform analyses of data and parameters that define operating conditions, reliability, and costs of quality- Provides technical support to internal and external customers- Tracks production losses and costs and works to find ways to reduce those losses and costs- Work hands on to learn and become a S.M.E. on proprietary manufacturing processes, test methods and equipment- Assess process quality risks and make recommendations for design enhancements based on data in a collaborative environment.- Leads and participates in the preparation of FMEA's and risk assessments associated with product and process quality- Develops standards, processes, statistical methods, and procedures to further ensure product and process quality- Key partner / contributor towards the company's planned IATF 16949 certifications- Conducts other related duties as assignedRequirements : - Bachelor's Degree in Optical, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline- 5 years minimum experience in a quality engineering role- Experience with internal and external audits- Experience supporting and maintaining all aspects of a Quality Management System- Good working knowledge of ISO 9001: 2015- Good verbal and written communication skills- Solid problem-solving skills and ability to lead cross functional teams through root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action plans- Excellent follow through- Good customer facing experience- Ability to define and understand Design of Experiments, Sampling Plans and Statistical Process Control- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products, Minitab, and Lotus Notes Qualifications : - Manufacturing knowledge/experience- Effective ability to be driven and self-motivated, working independently as well as with cross-functional teams as required- Personable, creative, and flexible to the various needs of the organization- Able to analyze large volumes of data and provide cogent graphical and narrative reports from that research- Perform failure analysis and troubleshooting- A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques- Analytical and detail oriented- Critical and strategic thinker- Team Building and Influencing- Facilitation and Communication- Change Management Equal Opportunity Employer-minorities/females/veterans/individuals with disabilities/sexual orientation/gender identity
