SCCC REFERENCE #: 23-51 DATE: August 30, 2023 TITLE: Professional Assistant I – Information Technology Operations – Information Technology Services (ITS) CAMPUS: Ammerman Campus in Selden START DATE: Fall 2023 TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full Time RANK: Faculty POSITION DESCRIPTION: Announcement is hereby made for a 12-month, full-time, Professional Assistant in the IT Operations Department in the Office of Information Technology Services on the Ammerman Campus in Selden. Suffolk County Community College is an open admissions institution committed to serving a diverse student population in a variety of degree and career programs.This is a Unit III position covered under the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College collective bargaining agreement with the college.JOB DESCRIPTION:The IT Operations Professional Assistant provides administrative support for various programs for which the office is responsible. The position reports to the College Assistant Dean for IT Operations. Specific duties include the following:

Updates and maintains digital and physical personnel records for all members of ITS.

Directs support of the Student Device Loan program, including planning and execution of the application and loan processes.

Working closely with the Assistant Dean and their Administrative Assistant, helps with budget planning, implementation and support of related processes for budget transfers and purchasing.

Maintains physical and digital records of all ITS purchases.

Works with the Suffolk Help staff, IT-Help and Academic Computing Centers to support students and faculty.

Works as IT Operations’ primary graphic designer to produce, update and distribute documents, such as the Student Guide to Technology, to the college community.

As needed, assists the Suffolk Help staff with responding to phone, email and chat from the college community.

Works as part of the team that plans and hosts IT events (i.e. Suffolk Help Training Day, SUNY COA Regional Forums); handles all aspects of coordinating technology events, such as SUNY COA, staff retreats, ACC training.

Works in a team environment for all IT Operations and ITS support of the college.

Negotiates and processes annual software contracts, such as the SUNY bill for technology services, Adobe, and Microsoft.

Performs all other duties requested by the Assistant Dean and Vice President for Information Technology Services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

Bachelor’s degree in technology, management, accounting, marketing or related field

Experience supporting end users’ technology on a help desk in a higher education environment

Experience producing graphic publications using Adobe Creative Cloud Suite

Must exhibit outstanding customer service skills

Must be able to effectively communicate with team members, trainers, and management

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Preferred

Project management certification (PMP)

Experience working in an IT unit in a community college

Office or Excel certification(s)
