Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Technical Business Analyst in Finance for a Full-Time assignment with one of our premier Financial Services clients in New York, NY. The candidate will need to work 2-3 days onsite in midtown NYC. Responsibilities:

  • The firm's Finance team is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to act as a liaison to the IT function. This individual will report to a Finance Supervisor, work to determine requirements for finance-related systems, and collaborate with the IT team to develop and implement these systems. Additionally, the new hire will interface with business team end-users to understand issues and provide training on available tools and capabilities.
  • Regulatory filings
    • Perform daily data compilation, parsing/cleansing, aggregation, analysis, and report generation
    • Assist in filing of Form PF, PQR, and AIFMD reportable data
    • Act as a liaison between Regulatory Reporting team and external vendors to handle technical issues, and tool updates
  • Act as a thought partner for Finance business functions and IT team on system-related solutions
    • Work across teams to understand current state of finance-related IT systems
    • Identify and recommend opportunities for operational and system improvements on back-office business processes such as financial reporting, partnership accounting, portfolio accounting, security master, cash management, collateral management, and trade order and execution management
    • Provide hands-on technical support utilizing knowledge of data analysis tools such as SQL, Excel VBA, etc.
    • Support data warehouse strategic planning, requirements gathering, and creation of processes
    • Analyze and document requirements for Finance-related process enhancements and automations; subsequently work with the IT team to develop and implement enhancements
  • Participate as a member of the IT Implementation team
    • Be a Product Owner in the Agile development process
    • Communicate detailed requirements for finance systems, both verbally and written, to the IT team
    • Provide feedback on development efforts
    • Write test cases and performing/coordinating acceptance testing, and conduct QA reviews
    • Support product migration and analysis through multiple environments (development, staging, and production)
    • Provide training and operational support for the Finance team on various systems with a primary focus on Geneva
  • Project Related
    • Lead the implementation of document management, security master repository, regulatory reporting systems, and HR management solutions for Finance business groups
    • Liaise with IT and Finance on the integration between new security/pricing master System and all associated systems, the integration between the new data warehouse and all associated systems, and the integration between the new document management system and all associated systems
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Management Information Systems, or other related disciplines;
  • 5-7 years of relevant business and/or technical expertise
  • Experience in financial services or preferably asset management/investmentmanagement
  • Experience manipulating large data sets including working knowledge of RDBMS concepts, SQL, ETL tools and data management tools
  • Solid understanding of data modeling and data warehousing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel VBA and Microsoft Visio
  • Ability to understand core business processes, analyze business problems, and translate business needs into detailed technical requirements
  • Experience in Quality Assurance (QA) processes, creation of test artifacts (test plans, scenarios, and cases), and performing/coordinating testing activities
  • Experience supporting and training business user groups
  • Able to build supportive relationships among Finance and IT team members to accomplish goals in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in regulatory reporting and/or regulatory filings
  • Experience working with financial systems, performance measurement systems, portfolio management systems, and general knowledge management systems; knowledge of various accounting systems
  • Ability to understand complex financial analytics and strong quantitative skills
  • Additional finance-related or MBA degree and/or CPA certification preferred
  • Strong understanding of financial instruments including fixed income, equities, foreign currencies, and derivatives
