POSITION SUMMARY

:

The Director of IT will play a vital role in oversight and leadership of technology strategy, solutions and infrastructure for the Hospitality business line of The Howard Hughes Corporation. Reporting to the EVP of IT, responsibilities include implementing, supporting and managing all technology systems and infrastructure that support Restaurants, Hotels, Rooftop event management, Retail shop and AAA Ballpark operations. Additionally, this role will be responsible the necessary compliance such as PCI and SOX throughout all the hospitality businesses. By bringing prior hospitality solutions and systems experience to the fore, the individual in this will collaborate closely with the VP of IT infrastructure implement cost effective solutions and enable highly secure solutions to successfully thwart and manage cybersecurity threats. This role requires both a hands-on work ethic as well as lead the technology team to success. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

:

  • Lead the innovation of the guest and employee experience utilizing the most appropriate technology platforms & drive the strategy to position scale technology platforms for the Hospitality line of business.
  • Lead and participate in the strategic and operational governance processes of the organization with a specific focus on hospitality processes and systems.
  • Guide IT strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization.
  • Identify opportunities for cost-effective investment of financial resources in systems and resources, including staffing, sourcing, purchasing, and vendor management.
  • Assess and communicate risks associated with IT systems and make recommendations to mitigate risk appropriately.
  • Facilitate consultation with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new and existing technology implementations and maintenance.
  • Own the review of hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts and pursue master agreements to capitalize on economies of scale and reduce organizational risk.
  • Help drive adoption of new industry applications through training, consensus building and on-going support.
  • Define and communicate plans, policies, and standards for the organization for acquiring, implementing, and operating IT systems.
  • Ensure delivery of IT services to the end users, monitoring of IT systems performance, and continuous improvement.
  • Implement restaurant technology systems to help drive top line revenue, and net operating income.
  • Ensure IT systems and operations adhere to applicable laws and regulations, including PCI.
  • Strategically grow the team as expansion warrants. Recruit, screen, hire, train, counsel, and discipline staff as needed.
  • Manage strategic relationships between internal IT resources and external entities, including vendors, partner organizations and other business units.
  • Help develop and improve the IT team’s project management, policies, functions, processes, procedures and responsibilities through leading by example, consultancy, training and intervention.
  • Develop, track, and control the NYC information technology annual operating and capital budgets as needed

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

:
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Technology.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience and demonstrated growth in Information. Technology roles, including 10+ years current leadership experience managing and administering a major IT operation; restaurant industry is preferred.
  • Experience in both large, well-run companies and smaller, high-growth entrepreneurial companies is desired. Restaurant or hospitality industry experience is strongly desired.
  • Strong track record of evaluating, analyzing, designing, implementing, leading, and monitoring effective and efficient IT processes to proactively improve performance while ensuring maximum cost/benefit of IT spend.
  • Experience with point of sale (POS), e-commerce and digital marketing platforms.
  • Demonstrated, hands-on leadership in development and implementation of contemporary enterprise technology architectures, best practices and current innovations across technology solutions and platforms.
  • Subject matter expert in cloud-based, asset-light solutions (SaaS), including managed services model.
  • Experience managing IT operating and capital budgets.
