Business Risk and Controls ManagementThe Business Risk and Controls manager directs his/her organization in assessing financial controls to ensure compliance with internal business process rules and external regulations. This job leads, monitors, and oversees assessment of the control environment to combat significant issues and ensure ongoing compliance. This job also manages a Business Unit Control department aligned to a line of business or function. The Business Unit Risk and Controls manager coordinates and provides support to senior management in the process of developing scalable and sustainable processes, and ensures the rigorous execution of the required process, risk, and control activities.Key Responsibilities and DutiesDevelops a Risk and Controls Matrix in partnership with business management.

Identifies and evaluates critical risks relating to the organization's financial statement assertions.

Oversees the design of evaluation and testing of financial records, processes, and systems.

Monitors assessment processes of control environment continuously to track significant control issues, developments, and trends.

Engages and influences senior leadership and executives to translate business problems and strategies into the appropriate first line activities to execute; including recommendations regarding the reliability and effectiveness of internal financial controls.

Partners with Chief Risk Officers on the development of long-term strategy and executing day-to-day activities

Provides oversight to ensure ongoing compliance with COSO, Sarbanes-Oxley and other external regulations.

Oversees audits with external and internal auditors.

Directs and assists in documentation of significant business processes that directly or indirectly affect financial reporting.

Tests processes to verify controls; develops, recommends and may implement required corrective actions to strengthen controls.
