To learn more, visit wearedream.org.Reporting to the Student Life Director, the Program Assistant will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the high school after school and athletics program. A successful Program Assistant is an organized, dependable teammate who has a desire to make a lasting impact in an underserved community. The Program Assistant should demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission and values of DREAM and have substantial expertise in all areas of responsibility.
ResponsibilitiesSupport the day-to-day operations of DREAM Charter High School's after school and athletics program to ensure youth participate in activities safely, on schedule and with adequate supplies and services;Monitor and track student attendance to ensure compliance with school policies.Develop and distribute outreach materials to keep families informed and engaged.Conduct phone calls and maintain regular communication with families to provide updates, address concerns, and offer support.Collaborate with school staff to ensure daily attendance is input into data management system completely and accurately;Communicate with students and staff to ensure after school spaces are used appropriately;Transition groups of students to designated areas;Ensure students, families, and others in attendance at athletics events follow spectator guidelines;Communicate after school and athletics information to students, families and staff;Collaborate regularly with the Student Life Director and Athletics, Senior Athletics Manager & athletics team to evaluate, troubleshoot, and improve after school and athletics operationsAdditional administrative and event operations duties as neededQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required, College enrollment or degree, preferred;2 years experience in a school environment, or direct service work with adolescents as staff or in a volunteer capacity, strongly preferred;1 year previous operations or administrative experience, strongly preferred;CPR Certification preferred;Ability to read and write in Spanish and fluency in spoken Spanish preferred;Demonstrated ability to operate with a do-what-it-takes flexible, composed, and energetic attitude;Ability to quickly problem-solve in the moment; Comfort in utilizing Microsoft and Google applications;Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail;Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, families, and other stakeholders;A desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, families, and community;Belief in the mission and outcomes of DREAM, including the importance of social emotional competency and advocacy for self and others;A strong belief in the mission and values of DREAM, including the desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, families, and community.CommitmentStart date: ImmediateEnd date: June 30, 2025Days & hours: Monday-Thursday, 3-8pmDates and hours are subject to changeLocationDREAM Charter High School: 20 Bruckner Boulevard, Bronx, NYCompensationDREAM offers competitive compensation commensurate with relevant experience with the potential for a seasonal increase. The rate for this position for incoming staff is between $23-25 per hour.
