Stack Engineer Status: Exempt (salaried) Department: Engineering Position Summary The Stack Engineer is responsible for assisting air-cooled stackt development and support. This includes conception, design, prototype development, unit and system testing, product release and manufacturing support. This individual will conduct and monitor testing, on a variety of systems and fixtures, in accordance with various test plans, collects pertinent data electronically, prepares computer data files and completes necessary documentation including official lab notes and may interpret data and make appropriate changes or recommendations. This role is critical to the functionality of the engineering team and to assist in furthering the reputation of Plug Power products to exceed customer expectations. Plug Power is the industry leader in hydrogen fuel cell power solutions for the material handling industry. As such, the ideal engineering candidate should be highly motivated to contribute to a rapidly growing company and passionate about lending their technical expertise within a dynamic work environment. Core Duties and Responsibilities Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of Plug Power products and related understanding of existing designs and functionality Define, analyze and design mechanical components and sub-systems with a focus on simplicity and manufacturability Collaborate with other team members to achieve project goals Resolve problems as necessary to deliver on product and functionality expectations Provide support to assist in the development of project schedules and budgetary parameters Communicate regularly with internal project team members and other departments to clarify project expectations and meet commitments Represent Plug Power in a professional manner always and in all interactions Perform all other duties as assigned Education and Experience BS degree in engineering or equivalent job-based experience. Ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders Uncompromising dedication to quality with a strong attention to detail Demonstrated analytical abilities Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively Exposure to component design, material selection, high-volume manufacturing, electrochemistry and thermodynamics. Demonstrate high standards of professionalism Excellent follow-through on projects Must be driven and self-motivated Mechanical systems expertise and troubleshooting ability Experience in any of the following spheres of activity is preferred and highly valued: Fuel cells Outdoor equipment Plastic mold/component design Sheet metal design and fabrication Hydrogen regulation and distribution Thermal management/Thermodynamics Material handling equipment Ability to travel independently to assist with field and operation support of the business Willing to test, calibrate, diagnose, and repair various devices. Be able to create and implement test plans for verifying designs. Knowledge of solid modeling with a sound understanding of good modeling practice and application. SolidWorks and CREO in use, experience in either platform a plus.
