Job Summary:

Responsible for all related duties and functions of the department, as well as the leadership and development of all employees with a direct reporting relationship. Responsible for all related duties and functions of the department, specifically within areas of quality manufacturing and quality control of latex emulsions, paint oils and varnish and all other related polymer processing as well as the Leadership and development of all employees with a direct reporting relationship. Responsible for tank farm and other tank storage areas, including the unloading & loading of bulk materials. Responsible for following all PSM requirements including, but not limited to, writing/maintaining SOPs, following the MOC process, doing mechanical integrity tests. Work closely with quality group to meet product requirements, develop test methods maintain test equipment and train employees on procedures. Understands the processing of all Resins in a properly cleaned kettle. Is able to correctly follow formulation and procedures for adding raw material ingredients to process quality latex emulsions, paint oils and varnish; and all other related polymers. Capable of successfully following procedures which include, but are not limited to, opening valves, checking gauges for material flow and temperature, determining heat and cooling requirements, and quality checks to process Resins for proper formula specifications.

Specific leadership responsibilities include:

Responsible for all related duties and functions of the department, as well as the leadership and development of all employees with a direct reporting relationship. Driving safety practices and maintaining a safe work environment in their respective departments. Leads will also be required to perform regular safety audits to ensure their department is in compliance with OSHA and Benjamin Moore safety guidelines. Ensuring Benjamin Moore's best quality practices and quality programs are met and followed in their areas of responsibility. Managing manpower and delegating work to employees under their direct supervision to maximize productivity during production and non-production timeframes. It will also be the Lead's role to cooperate with other department Leads to train and cross-train employees to increase versatility and flexibility across the facility. Participating in daily production/directional meetings with the local Management team to discuss safety, quality, metrics, production, and strategy. Driving continuous improvement (CI) efforts in their departments. This will include but not be limited to the following: o Performing 5S audits o Creating, implementing, and training on standard work instructions (SWI) when requested by CI Manager. o Reviewing and managing the factory production process systems and holding regular meetings to discuss the data and improvement plans o Key performance indicator (KPI) reporting and management. o Engaging their teams and cultivating improvement and efficiency suggestions. o Performing daily shop floor management tools such as line walks, stand up meetings, 5S audits, production walks, and shift handover logs. o Performing morning stand up meetings with their departments and updating the CIMS boards as necessary. Coordinating daily production and ensuring departments are supplied with the correct and proper amount of materials for daily work assignments. This may include reporting daily scrap losses and any vendor non- conformance that may occur as well as maintain inventory accuracy on all materials and necessary supplies. Verifying and sign off on daily work assigned that may include production counts, work assignments, maintenance work orders, pick/pack sheets, etc. Ensure quality of work performed before deeming complete and moving it to the next operation. Reporting out on department's daily activity and discuss productivity, issues, quality concerns, etc. in the daily shift log. Working with their respective teams to identify areas of opportunity to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and reduce costs. Trains and coaches on appropriate methods regarding work processes, safety, etc. Working with employees to provide timely and regular feedback on performance (positive and constructive), identifying gaps in skills levels and areas for development, and proactively coaching and mentoring when appropriate. Participate in communicating the context of Company, Operations, and department specific objectives, metrics, and expectations in order to effectively conduct semi-annual/annual performance management reviews with employees. Understand Company policies and guidelines that may help you run your area efficiently and effectively and proactively respond to employee questions or concerns; e.g., specifics of the attendance policy, timekeeping guidelines, reasonable suspicion testing, etc. Actively participate in leadership training with a focus on developing people management, business management, interpersonal and communication skills. Upgrades own skills by attending courses, seminars, etc. Basic computer skills such as Outlook (email), Excel, Word, and AS400/Infinium.

Required Skills:

High School or GED, Post high school education in chemical or tech related field preferred. Strong computer skills such as Outlook (email), Excel, Word, SAP and AS400/Infinium. 1-2 years of leadership experience Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with employees at all levels. Demonstrated strength in problem solving and making decisions Basic accounting and billing experience a plus Work OT as needed Experience supervising and leading a team Ability to lift 50 pounds infrequently Forklift certification training Need to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as eye protection, safety shoes and full face respirator Minimum of 5 years working experience and knowledge associated with Resin and or chemical processing. Experienced in monitoring the batch process by taking data readings using electronic information systems, and taking batch samples for quality control testing, as prescribed in accordance with Central Labs guidelines and standard test methods. Records data as prescribed by Central Labs. Resolves minor disputes and facilitates problem resolution as required; ensures plant management is notified of any employee conduct requiring corrective or disciplinary action.
