New York, Clarence, 14031 Clarence USADescription Robert Half is reviewing candidates for a renowned services company for an ambitious, determined Controller. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. Based in the Clarence, New York area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position.Key responsibilitiesAdvance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis
Inspect deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time
Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis
Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies Requirements - Solid understanding of Annual Financial Reporting
Annual Audited Financial Statements experience required
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Be detailed, flexible, and organized
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively throughout all levels of the company
Exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Ability to meet deadlines
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
