- Design and implement monitoring solutions using ScienceLogic, Dynatrace, Thousandeyes, and Cloud native monitoring tools.
- Perform requirements gathering necessary to design and build DoITT infrastructure/applications enterprise monitoring system.
- Perform analysis and make recommendation on design that meets industry best practice for monitoring.
- Develop, design and present details for engineers and management. This include, but not limited to: VISIO diagrams, bill of materials, and technical specifications with custom configuration to meet the DoITT steady state operation’s needs.
- Perform the installation/patching of all required system software for the monitoring system.
- Validate the system for functionality, performance, fault tolerance and operational readiness.
- Work closely with operational support teams such as Network, Windows, and Unix to provide a holistic monitoring solution.
- Execute detailed network/server discovery, device monitoring, topology visualization, and root cause analysis (RCA) capabilities.
- Identify issues, develop, and maintain processes that address and resolve them, (and be sure to communicate/alert stakeholders as needed).
- Assist with Sciencelogic environment upgrades; to make enhancements and troubleshoot issues.
- Configure and develop custom components with technology partners (analysts, developers, designers etc.) to meet requirements and goals.
- Ensure applications are free of common coding vulnerabilities (and follow standard security practices).
- Proactively put forward ideas that speak to project objectives (e.g. development, testing solutions, and tools).
- Complete unit, integration testing, and UAT.
- Stay on top of state-of-health monitoring and SLA targets.
- Perform special projects and initiatives as assigned.
- 8+ years of experience as Monitoring and Event Management engineer.
- 6+ years Hands on implementation experience using Microsoft Azure, Amazon and other cloud technologies.
- 6+ years API development.
- 5+ years SQL experience.
- Knowledge of Sciencelogic EM7 monitoring solutions (Collectors, Database, Admin Portal, Power flow).
- Sciencelogic Dynamic Applications development and integration using Python.
- Extensive knowledge of event management lifecycles
- Application Monitoring configurations using tools like Dynatrace Application Performance Manager (collectors, gateway) Thousandeyes monitoring products.
- ServiceNow event management alert and CI business rules
- Experience supporting a large-scale, Manager of Managers (MoM) type monitoring environment.
- MOM integrations with ServiceNow Event Management
- Networking, IT Security and Monitoring technologies.
- Syslog/SNMP v2/3 trap forwarding/receiving/configuration and integration with monitoring tools.
- Email, API, and other various integrations with monitoring tools.
- Automation i.e. automating common repeatable tasks.
- Diagnose and solve complex technical issues.
- Working knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP, SNMP, HTTP, syslog, DR setup and other protocols.
- Working Knowledge of ITOM, ITSM, and ITIL framework and concepts (Incident, Change, Asset Management).
- Setting up monitoring profiles, polling policies and thresholds.
- Perl, PowerShell, XML, JavaScript, C#, and Linux/Unix Shell scripting.
- Experience working with Windows, Unix/Linux, Virtualization technologies and appliances.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and OpenShift.
- Experience in working for a large municipal government.
- Knowledge of CMDB data models and asset classifications; .
- Platform management and administration of large-scale monitoring systems; Sciencelogic, Thousand Eyes, Dynatrace, IBM Netcool, NetScout and/or Quest NetIQ.
- ITILv3 or ITIL4 certification.
- Experience interfacing and effectively communicating with executive level management.
- Experience managing multiple monitoring tools; and integrations.
