This is an immediate need for a permanent position in Albany, NY.

Position Summary: The Healthcare Data Analyst will join the team, which does not currently include a staff person with the needed expertise. Knowledge of and competency with statistical analysis software is a required prerequisite to carry out the functions of this position. The Healthcare Data Analyst will be responsible for oversight of the activities of the independent evaluation and associated analysis, and development and analysis of required reporting. The Data Analyst will also be responsible for the extraction of data from a raw data set, received quarterly, using SAS. The Data Analyst will be responsible for modifying algorithms using SAS, as well as developing new analysis tools.

Job Duties:

Provides technical support for unit’s day to day activities including participating in problem solving and operational change activities.
Validates and analyzes datasets used by the division's reporting unit, may provide guidance and management to staff utilizing division’s datasets.
Constructs queries using SQL as needed to mine data from the data warehouse.
Uses SAS to extract and organize data from the data set.

Basic Qualifications:

2 years of SAS or SQL experience
Must be a United States Citizen or a Permanent Resident of the United States in order to be considered

Desired Characteristics:Candidates must have strong analytical and communication skills, including the ability to write technical and policy documents, and be able to:

Conduct research and concisely synthesize the findings for management.
Think critically and strategically.
Work independently, as well as in a team environment.
Candidates with experience in health care or health care related field is desirable.
Candidates should be proficient in the use of standard office technology and basic Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
