QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 1. High School Diploma or GED with accreditation as determined by the State of New Mexico. Must be able to provide proof (original diploma or official transcripts) upon hire.

2. Minimum two (2) years’ experience in safety related field, required.

3. Demonstrated knowledge of local, state and federal safety regulations: including, but not limited to: Federal ICF/IIA Certification regulations, New Mexico ICF/IIA Licensing regulations, Life Safety Code, Uniform Building Codes, local fire ordinances, accreditation standards, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules, Workers Compensation Laws and regulations and Americans with Disabilities Act.

4. Must be able to work flexible hours/locations. Regular attendance is a requirement of the position. Will require some “on call” work.

5. Valid New Mexico driver’s license, 3 years’ driving experience, and a clear driving record as determined by auto insurance carrier.

6. Current negative TB skin test results (within last year).

6. Current drug screen with negative results.

7. Must be able to lift, floor to waist, and carry 50 pounds for at least 50 feet.

8. Ability to split time between Santa Fe and Alcalde.

9. Must obtain CPR/First Aid certification within first 30 days of employment and maintain during employment.

10. Must comply with COVID-19 vaccination protocol.

RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY:

The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and maintaining a comprehensive safety program to prevent or correct participant life/safety hazards and unsafe working conditions for employees. The Safety Officer must establish and promote the maintenance of a safe, accident free and healthy working and living environment by performing the specific duties personally or in cooperation with other departments and all supervisors. The Safety Officer communicates safety hazards to supervisors, Program Director, Facilities Manager and the CEO. The Safety Director is responsible for following up with supervisors on corrective actions for any life/safety or workplace hazards. The position splits its time between Santa Fe and Alcalde.
