What You Will DoThe Engineering Services Division of Los Alamos National Laboratory develops, maintains, and applies a diverse set of engineering capabilities to provide innovative engineering solutions that enable the Laboratory's scientific and national security mission. This position is within the Engineering Services Division Office (ES-DO) and is assigned to the Engineering Project Delivery (ES-EPD) Group. This group is responsible for implementing the Conduct of Engineering (COE) program at Los Alamos National Laboratory. The positions are in nuclear, accelerator or non-nuclear facilities across 38 square miles of the Laboratory. The program elements include processes, standards, training, and qualifications that are generally applicable throughout the life cycle of a facility. They exist to effectively manage risks and satisfy customer requirements in a safe, secure, cost effective, and environmentally responsible manner.You will be working as part of a design team assessing, maintaining, and upgrading facility systems at LANL. Specific tasks will include assisting in developing contract documents consisting of drawings and specifications in order to maintain the technical baseline for new and existing facility systems throughout the facility lifecycle. This will require effectively communicating engineering solutions both verbally and in writing to management, customers, peers, and craft personnel.What You NeedMinimum Job Requirements:Design experience in nuclear, accelerator or industrial facility operations.

Demonstrate a basic knowledge of engineering principals, mathematics, and science to solve routine technical problems in support of discipline area.

Demonstrated familiarity working within the A/E industry.

Demonstrate ability to prepare contract documents.

Familiarity producing designs u ti lizing some or all of the following; AutoCAD, Revit, AutoSPRINK, SprinkCAD, AlarmCAD.

Demonstrated familiarity and capability in the following areas:

Project work flow

Understanding of content and purpose for contract documents.

Understanding of content and purpose of fire protection-related calculations.

Ability to communicate well, both written and verbally.

Education/Experience : Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, Science, Math or related degree from an accredited institution and 2 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupationDesired Qualifications:NICET certification in one or more areas of fire protection.

Experienced in producing designs u ti lizing AutoCAD tools and work processes.

Knowledge of DOE and LANL Engineering Standards and Conduct of Engineering

principles and procedures.
