What You Will DoThe Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE) will be part of the Institutional Quality and Performance Assurance-Quality Support Services (IQPA-QSS) group and will report to the IQPA-QSS Deployed Team Lead and Group Leader. The IQPA-QSS mission is to support Institutional Programs and Projects to ensure quality requirements are adequately implemented. The selected candidate will be deployed from IQPA-QSS to support the TA55 Facility Operations Director (FOD) team as a point-of-contact (POC) for quality assurance activities.As the QA Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring quality requirements are incorporated into all functional area within TA55 or the PF4 D&D and Install team. You will provide in-depth feedback associated with the team’s quality management system to ensure compliance and adherence to institutional policies and procedures. Regular contacts with other resources internal and external to the IQPA-QSS organization are also typical to successfully execute responsibilities.Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Assist in the review and preparation of procurement documentation relevant to quality assurance and quality engineering requirements

Assist in preparation and maintenance of procedures for quality-affecting activities

Assist in nonconformance reporting and the corrective action processes

Assist with coordinating, and/or conducting audits and surveillance of quality-affecting engineering, procurement, construction, and project work

Develop, define, identify, and apply product and process control methods such as developing control plans, identifying critical control points, developing and validating work instructions, etc. (design verification).

Conduct audits, assessments, and surveillances of programs and activities against QA and QC requirements applicable to the program or activity being assessed.

Interface with project personnel, e.g., project management, engineering, construction, subcontractors, etc., to ensure project activities meet QA, QC, and customer requirements.

Mentor less senior quality engineers or quality specialists in the development, implementation, and understanding of QA programs, procedures, and processes.

What You NeedMinimum Job Requirements:Advanced knowledge of and experience with quality documents (e.g., DOE Order 414.1, DOE Order 226.1B, 10CFR830, NQA-1 2008 1a2009, DOE/NNSA weapons quality policy [NAP 401.1]). Knowledge and experience with the interrelation of these requirements documents.

Advanced knowledge of the intent, purpose, and design of the quality and performance assurance systems, including quality and performance assurance tools and the integration of quality into various programs and systems.

Expert-level experience in the development and implementation of quality assurance and control programs; typical experience of at least 11-12 years with nuclear and DOE QA programs.

Expert level knowledge of Non-Conformance reporting process

Expert level knowledge of assessment/audit practices.

Working knowledge in the technical application of engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations, practices sufficient to comprehend requirements.

Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or Industrial Systems Engineering or a related field and 12 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.Desired Qualifications:Knowledge of Project Management Principles and practices

Experience working with engineers, journeyman, inspectors, programmers, and maintenance technicians

Advanced familiarity with project management methodologies and applying quality

Advanced experience with mentoring of personnel.

Advanced skills in leading and engaging people; strong interpersonal, communications, negotiate agreements, and build consensus.

Advanced knowledge of procurement processes

Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication skills as evidenced by successful interaction with various levels of management, state and federal regulators, stakeholders and suppliers.

Advanced familiarity with construction codes and standards, and applying quality requirements to construction projects, where applicable.

Ability to understand and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, specifications, and schematics.
