Job Description

SGS is looking for a dynamic and motivated Category Specialist to join their Procurement team. Reporting to the Procurement Manager this position will act as the primary interface between all associated internal and external stakeholders to drive value for the assigned categories of responsibility.

As a Category Specialist you will be responsible for:

  • Planning, forecasting and procurement of materials and services on behalf of SGS Australia at the lowest total cost of ownership
  • Strategic sourcing and full procurement lifecycle activities: requirements elicitation, tender development, contracting strategy, panel lead supplier evaluation, supplier relationship management, contract development, contract negotiation, establishment and performance management
  • Drive savings through cost reduction, business efficiency and compliance, throughout SGS Australia’s operations
  • Market intelligence analysis, with full understanding of market sector conditions and contractor/supplier landscape
  • Measure, monitor and drive compliance to preferred supplier program
  • In accordance with SGS global category management strategy, the Category Specialist will develop and implement the category strategy as it pertains to Australian business requirements

Qualifications

  • Procurement or related commercial qualification
  • Demonstrable experience in procurement and category management
  • Sound understanding of contracts and effective management thereof
  • Strong business engagement capabilities at all levels of a large volume, multinational, matrix style organisation
  • Highly skilled in managing multiple direct and indirect supplier relationships
  • Proven ability to analyse and interpret data, including highly capable Excel skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate recommendations and analysis to diverse audiences
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship building skills
