Description Robert Half is currently seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Staff Accountant to join our finance team on a contract-to-permanent basis. This role offers an excellent opportunity for career growth in the field of accounting. This position is located in the Albuquerque, NM area and it is full time (40 hours).Job Summary:As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for performing a range of accounting and financial tasks to support the day-to-day operations of our finance department. This position begins as a contract role with the potential to transition to permanent employment based on performance and business needs.Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Month-End Close: Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
Accounts Payable: Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payments.
Accounts Receivable: Manage accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, payment posting, and collections.
Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Expense Reporting: Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Budget Monitoring: Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes, tracking variances and providing insights.
Tax Compliance: Assist with tax-related tasks, including sales tax reporting and compliance.
Audit Support: Provide support during internal and external audits, ensuring all requested documentation is available and accurate.
Documentation: Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
CPA or progress toward CPA certification is a plus.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a related role.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Knowledge of relevant accounting principles and regulations.
