DESCRIPTION:We are looking for a Sr. Director, DB2 Database Administration to join our Investor Communication Solutions organization on contract to hire basis. We are seeking a business-minded, technically oriented leader who has the energy, edge, and execution capability to drive our technology transformation.We are made up of high performing teams that meet in person to learn and collaborate as needed. This role is considered hybrid, which means you’ll be assigned to an office and given the flexibility to work remotely.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Become part of and lead a thriving DataBase Administration Group consisting of 10 Database Administrators supporting complete data management for some of the world’s largest brokerage firms.
  • The DBA Group is responsible for maintaining and improving existing critical DB2 Mainframe Full Lifecycle Database Management System. The environment consists of 2 Production Data-sharing Groups composed of 11 members and corresponding test, QA and UAT environments for a total of 20 DB2 Version 12 Subsystems consisting of over 800 DB2 databases and 22,000 tables utilizing over 30 Terabytes of Data.
  • Manage and lead a group that implements sophisticated data models, database designs, data access methods and cover all facets of Database and Table maintenance and Administration.
  • Resolve sophisticated database performance issues, database capacity issues, SQL related issues and other distributed data issues.
  • Analyze DB2 statistics (system, database, buffer pool, thread, utility.)
  • Confer with and advises Development groups on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities, and methods.
  • Consult with application development teams and advise them of the correct usage of appropriate data manipulation techniques.
  • Team is responsible for Storage management, backup and Recovery, monitoring and maintaining ongoing performance of databases to develop updates or modifications according to business needs. Monitor and review and collaborate with other database administrators to ensure correct practices and procedures.
  • Assist IT team members with issues needing technical expertise or complex systems and/or database knowledge.
  • Mentor team members to improve their understanding and skill and ensure they are familiar with resource materials including manuals and systems.
  • Craft technical solutions and prepare implementation methods to be performed by other DBA team members.
  • Support our Disaster Recovery program across a GDPS, Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • 3+ years of experience leading DB2 database administration groups
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and maintain DB2 databases.
  • Detailed knowledge of underlying DB2 database management system products and tools such as CA/Platinum.
  • Knowledge of Disk storage mechanisms preferred.
  • Solid understanding of DB2 Utilities, Backup, Recovery, Load, Check, REORG, Runstats.
  • Working knowledge of OMEGAMON XE for DB2 performance (accounting reports)
  • Platinum products, including Detector , SA analyzer, Log analyzer etc.
  • Knowledge of programming languages helpful (Cobol, Java, SQL, REXX).
  • 3+ years in a leadership role including experience driving a team while focusing on continuous improvement initiatives and setting priorities and plans to meet business goals and objectives.
  • Outstanding organizational, communication, interpersonal, relationship building skills conducive to teamwork; able to work well in a multi-functional, matrix management environment.
