Lab Operations Support

United States citizenship required, must be willing and able to pass a government background investigation with a favorable determination Location: Atlantic City, NJDuration: 1-2 years (possibly longer)Work Hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm Mondays thru Fridays (overtime and weekend hours may be required to complete assigned tasks) Main Sail is currently seeking Help Desk Support to provide consultative services for the En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM) project designed to replace the existing Air Traffic Control automated systems. Responsibilities will include the following:
  • Software and Hardware installations
  • Systems Administration for AIX and LINUX
  • Lab Operational Support
  • Managing system storage
  • Working knowledge of SAN switches and IBM Enterprise Storage units
  • Working knowledge of CISCO switches, routers and Advanced Security Appliance (ASA) devices
  • Managing file systems, backups and restores
  • System security
  • System startup and shutdown
  • Provide back-up support to WJHTC Labs daily operations to include:
    • System IPL and shutdowns
    • System backup and recovery
    • Other operational tasks as directed by Lab Management
  • Problem resolution support - problem identification/analysis
  • Site problem determination and resolution, provide factory support to the fielded sites in the areas of help desk support, site support and site testing
  • Document processes and procedures where applicable
  • Submit status reports as requested by Lab Management
  • Other tasks as appropriate to support the development/maintenance team
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering and/or
    • Hardware Engineering. Experience shall include system equipment implementation, software installs,
    • debugging/problem analysis and resolution, willingness to perform weekend work and overtime and
    • ability to isolate and document Hardware/Software problems. Overtime and shift/weekend work will be expected on an “as required” basis as needed to meet schedules as expressed by Management
  • Software Language: strong working knowledge and experience with UNIX and/or IBM’s RS/6000 AIX internals
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Requirements
  • Air Traffic Management / Control software/hardware knowledge
  • Knowledge of laboratory configurations at WJHTC
  • Basic hardware knowledge and ability to troubleshoot/repair basic issues (Adapter swaps, adding memory, etc.)
  • Red Hat Linux administration skills, and ability to troubleshoot
