Job Description

Atmospheric and Environmental Research (AER) is actively seeking a IT Team Leader/SysAdmin to support our Space Weather R&D team in Albuquerque, NM. As a member of the Space Vehicles Directorate Battle Space Environment (RVB) mission data center you will support multiple projects and play an essential role ensuring the integrity and on-time delivery of customer data sets. The work will be performed at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Kirtland Air Force Base.

The specialized duties and responsibilities of this position include:

· Coordinate and delegate the responsibilities of the IT team

· Conduct training sessions with employees so that they can be equipped with new knowledge and skills to remain current

· Troubleshooting and repairing workstation, server, and peripheral hardware

· Documenting and tracking problems, and coordinating with mission stakeholders and programming staff to resolve system problems

· Provides Cybersecurity policy guidance and compliance recommendations to staff, programs and customers

· Serves as the Alternate Communications Security (COMSEC) Manager for all cryptographic activities

· This position also requires responding to customer and user support requests, and delivering data products to customers and end users

Competitive candidates must have at least a B.S. Degree plus 4 years’ experience, or an A.S. Degree plus six years’ experience and good technical and support skills. They must also possess strong technical and communication skills, problem solving and customer interaction skills for a fast-paced R&D environment.

Qualifications

The following are required:

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Ability to lead a diverse team of professionals

· Ability to identify and mitigate network vulnerabilities

· Experience working in a Linux (virtual machine and physical server) environment

· Experience with cloning software and creating OS images

· Experience with Linux shell scripting

· Experience with the DoD STIG/SCAP/RADIX process and requirements

· User level support and interaction

· Proficient with securing/hardening Windows and Linux OS

· Experienced with security software (ACAS) and documenting security issues

· Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of the position must have the appropriate IA certification in place prior to hire
