Job Summary: The Financial Aid Officer is primarily responsible for packaging all new students, providing excellent internal and external customer service, ensuring consistency with institutional, state, and federal guidelines, and assisting admissions in securing new student enrollments. The Financial Aid Officer provides support to the Financial Aid Director in meeting the goals of the department.

Job Duties:

Packaging of New Start Students – This process includes performing initial estimates to all prospective students (and parents, if the prospect is dependent), gathering information from the prospect to create a financial aid package, and assisting the prospect with online applications such as the FAFSA, Master Promissory Note, and Entrance Counseling.

Review all ISIRs for accuracy and resolve any issues (verification, c-codes). Collect all required documents to finalize financial aid package.

Access NSLDS to review prior loan/grant information. In order to perform this essential function of the job, the candidate must be eligible to apply for NSLDS access (i.e. no defaulted students, no outstanding Pell overpayments.)

Maintain consistently clean files to ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations.

Attend orientation sessions for new students.

Continue to assist and advise enrolled students throughout their program of study. Assist in repackaging continuing students and completing crossover FAFSAs.

Perform additional duties as requested by the Financial Aid Director and Campus Director.

Ensure 100% student satisfaction. Provide timely service during student appointments.

Work as a team member in meeting department goals.

Requirements:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Strong basic computer software (MS Office) skills; ability to master the use of campus data management system.

Excellent customer service skills.

Ability to read, comprehend, and comply with institutional, state, and federal policies and regulations pertaining to the federal student aid.

Ability to interact effectively as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments.

Ability to work a flexible schedule (including evenings).

Educational/Experience Requirements:

Associate degree from an accredited institution preferred and/or the equivalent of two years of related experience and education.

Previous experience in financial aid preferred.

Previous experience with Veteran’s benefits preferred.

Previous experience using SAINT Director and Campus Management software preferred.

Skills Required:

Customer service (phone and in-person)

Detail-orientated

Compliance driven

Proficient in general math/accounting concepts
