Responsibilities
The Health Information Management Technician is responsible for :
Ensuring all records are assembled in accordance with approved record order
Monitoring medical record form usage to ensure accordance with approved system forms
Accurately and timely analysis of records for documentation completeness, to include concurrent analysis
Assisting healthcare providers in completion of their medical records to include record accessibility; providing accurate and timely deficiency notices
Efficiently downloading transcription, verifying accuracy of non-clinical data and ensuring correct format; immediately filing reports
Filing report updates in credential files; maintaining file in organized fashion; preparing application packets; coordinating file completion
Promptly and appropriately handling release of information requests in accordance with state and federal law, and hospital policy and procedures
Ensuring receipt of appropriate authorization and accurate invoice statements
Utilizing ROI log to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulation regarding Accounting of Disclosure
Qualifications
The Health Information Management Technician must :
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) is preferred
Specialized training in an approved Health Information Management Program; education to include specialized health care subjects, i.
e., medical science, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, CPT / HCPCS coding
One year of previous medical record experience
