Job Details

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop product designs using solid modeling software, SolidWorks preferred.
  • Performs design calculations.
  • Organize technical data, write technical reports, and provide analysis including recommendations.
  • Support discovery of product opportunities.
  • Seek out applicable technologies from adjacent industries.
  • Identify new product opportunities through formal discovery process.
  • Communicates with management to maintain knowledge of current and proposed projects to develop appropriate documentation for design and production of new items.
  • Develop a working knowledge of process line(s) and process routings required to develop a product.
  • Coordinate and communicate with the sales team and/or customers regarding design and development of products.
  • Research, design, evaluate and manufacture mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements.
  • Effective use of statistical methods, design of experiments and systematic problem-solving techniques
  • Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components, systems, and processes.
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  • Read and interpret customer and industry specifications.
  • Develop documents which drive the manufacturing process: drawings, models, assemblies, etc.
  • Support all company facilities in design, analysis, and testing as it relates to existing product lines or the development of new derivative products.
  • Take on lead roles in the mechanical design of various simultaneous projects, as well as be involved with the entire product design and validation process. This will include assignments as project manager.
  • Design 3D parts and complex assemblies using CAD, define part material selections, and create appropriate dimensional drawings including GD&T.
  • Develop finite element simulations for a variety of mechanical systems, as well as use finite element as an effective design tool.
  • Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
  • Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all appropriate CB policies and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining clean, orderly, and hazard-free work areas.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and be detail oriented.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Effective use of statistical methods, design of experiments and systematic problem-solving techniques
  • Work with minimal supervision on high priority projects, manage project goals, and meet project deliverables on time.
  • Create presentations and be able to present work both internally and to customers effectively in a professional manner.
  • Manage as well as lead several projects simultaneously in a multi-disciplined working environment.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry, and QMS environment.
  • Understand the design process for both existing and derivative products including design for manufacturability and assembly.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes used in aerospace and the fastener industry.
  • Understanding of the standards related to the aerospace and fastener industry.
