As a Lead HR Advisor within the Employee & Labor Relations Center of Excellence, you will be responsible for providing the business with solutions to employee (union-represented and non-union people) issues ranging from straightforward to complex. Activities you will be responsible for advising on will include investigations, union-contract interpretation, union requests for information, performance management, management coaching, grievances, reduction-in-force/force adjustments, involuntary terminations.Success in this role is characterized by being a self-starter, showing persistence to get the right things done, maintaining a positive attitude and being extremely quick and curious to learn new things. Success is further exhibited by building strong relationships, being a change agent, adaptability, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and maintaining a customer first mindset.The Main ResponsibilitiesServe as a trusted advisor and influencer providing candid and unbiased counsel through an interactive partnership with the business
Demonstrates ability to provide thoughtful and empathetic support to employees; actively listening and asking probing questions to accurately diagnose the issue(s)
Recommend Labor and Employee Relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation
Utilize data to identify training needs within functional areas
Practical knowledge and proven employment related practices dealing with union matters, including grievances. Dedication to develop effective professional relations with union representatives
Assertiveness and resilience to work through complex and evolving initiatives; be an advocate to creatively identify options and support workplace improvements.
Conduct internal investigations and promptly report any compliance related concerns and works through appropriate resolution
Makes recommendations regarding potential disciplinary measures, including terminations and severance and/or coaching support based on investigative findings, ensuring consistency across the Company
Ensure compliance and provide accurate advice and counsel of Collective Bargaining Agreements
Ability to use data in decision making using Excel for analytics and adverse impact analysis
Additional ResponsibilitiesDemonstrates candor and poise to field difficult questions from teammates and leaders; ability to discuss difficult issues with candor and kindness
Demonstrates a broad understanding of core HR disciplines such as general HR acumen, compensation, Labor and Employee Relations, HR consulting/advising, along with a demonstrated ability to apply it in support of business and people priorities
Ensure legal compliance of HR state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws
Influences leaders and internal business support partners on best practices and thinking around Labor and Employee Relations trends.
Demonstrate a change management mindset through identification of opportunities to enhance the employee experience through education, process improvement and innovative ideas; offer potential solutions to drive greater stakeholder satisfaction
Utilize data to assist in decision making and recommend opportunities to improve practices
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff
What We Look For in a CandidateMinimum of 6 years of Human Resources experience with a strong understanding of employee relations, labor relations and employment law
Ability to be resilient and remain professional under pressure when partnering with senior level leaders and complex issues
Expertise in conflict resolution
Ability to effectively work independently and identify when to engage additional resources or escalate when appropriate
Ability to hold yourself accountable to set priorities, manage multiple responsibilities, and deliver against deadlines
Ability to assist peer group to contribute to the overall success of the organization
Expert interpersonal and collaboration skills with experience dealing at all levels within an organization
Strong ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization to guide decisions while acting with integrity
Expert verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiating skills with the ability to understand and contextualize broad and complex HR issues
Ability to conduct grievances and investigations and drive to positive resolution
Impeccable discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information
Self-sufficient learner with intellectual curiosity and take initiative for your own growth and development
Education:Basic QualificationsBachelors degree in Business or HR-related field or equivalent education
6+ years of HR experience
Preferred QualificationsMaster's Degree in business or HR-related field with 4+ years of HR experience
Large company HR experience in a Shared Services environment
Proven experience developing and executing HR strategy that aligns with business priorities
Hands-on experience and capability in working with both a represented and non-represented workforce
Familiarity and or experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies standard work, Process Mapping
