Job Description

Quality early childhood experiences are the foundation for a successful start in learning and in life. The Early Childhood Community Coordinator’s mission is to advance the work of early childhood as an integrated part of Fremont Family Coalition’s prevention work. The Early Childhood Community Coordinator will support Fremont Family Coalition’s Early Childhood lifespan group and connect and align community early childhood initiatives such as Rooted in Relationships (RiR), Parents Interacting with Infants (PIWI), and Circle of Security-Parenting (COS-P).

Wages

$16.83 to $21.63 per hour

(Around $35,000 to $45,000 per year if working 40 hours/week)

This position is full-time, hourly, and non-exempt.

Hours of Work

This position’s hours are typically 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday with a 30 minute lunch (40 hours/week). Overtime (over 40 hours/week) is rare and must be approved by a supervisor. Candidates may discuss alternative work arrangements with us during the hiring process.

Essential Functions

  • Communicate with early childhood providers, individuals, youth, and families on behalf of the Fremont Family Coalition in-person, by phone, by email, and by videoconference
  • Share information on early childhood resources with providers, individuals, youth, and families
  • Create, actively update, distribute, and publicize an early childhood resource manual
  • Develop and manage budgets for Fremont Family Coalition’s early childhood programs
  • Draft work plans, priority plans, and funding requests for Fremont Family Coalition early childhood programs
  • Monitor Fremont Family Coalition’s early childhood program implementation
  • Maintain physical and electronic files
  • Collect, enter, and report on data in online systems
  • Conduct outreach activities to inform area individuals, youth, families, providers, businesses, and other groups of early childhood services and resources
  • Engage with the community at large via Fremont Family Coalition’s social media pages and website
  • Stay updated on changing federal, state, and local law, policy, programs, and services available to meet the early childhood needs of individuals, youth, and families
  • Attend and facilitate trainings, presentations, and meetings, including on topics such as child development, adverse childhood experiences, family and youth centered practices, relationship building, trauma-informed care, protective factors, and collective impact
  • Lead the Early Childhood lifespan group for the Fremont Family Coalition and facilitate strategic planning
  • Participate in and lead community early childhood initiatives in collaboration with partner organizations, including by serving on and providing administrative support for boards, teams, and councils
  • Assist Community Impact Director with grant writing and reporting as needed
  • Assist Central Navigator(s) by providing information on community services and resources related to early childhood
  • Assist Fremont Family Coalition Leadership Team, Nebraska Children and Families Foundation staff, and Fremont Area United Way staff as needed

Work Environment

Ability to appear physically in our office and our community is required. Office dress is usually professional casual. Some events may require dressing up and may be outside or off-site. Some remote work may be possible or required due to COVID-19.

Physical Demands

This position involves being stationed at a desk and communicating with others, including the public. Although Fremont Family Coalition and its comprehensive fiscal sponsor, Fremont Area United Way, together have fewer than 15 employees, we will consider reasonable accommodation requests and encourage people with disabilities to apply.

Travel

This position involves some local travel for community outreach. Public transportation here is limited, so travel would likely be by car. Employees who drive a personal vehicle while working for us must have a driver’s license and liability insurance. Any mileage paid is at the IRS standard rate.

Professional development is important to us, so we include it in our budgets. We try to send our employees to conferences or events within the state. These opportunities might require longer drive times and hotel stays.
