SUMMARY:Under the general direction of the Director, Employee Benefits, responsible for performing financial analysis of various benefit options, preparing monthly benefits allocation reports and assisting in the budget preparation for all BHS benefits, handling retirement counseling sessions and answering employee questions related to benefits. Present recommendations on changes or enhancements to benefits to management.RESPONSIBILITIES:Analyses of benefit plans coverage for health & dental, retirement, life, disability and other insurance coverages and paid time off programs.Assists in the planning and coordination of benefit delivery on a System-wide basis. Knowledgeable about current benefit trends and legislative requirements and how they apply.Assists in development of recommendations for changes or enhancements to benefit offerings. Assists in the development of recommendations for policy changes or new programs.Performs financial analysis of programs and benefit options. Prepares and delivers presentations for all levels of management concerning new benefit policies or programs.Counsels employees and managers in regard to new benefits plans and issues and presents material to various employee groups. Assists with pension calculations, retirement counseling and coordinates pre-retirement programs.Keeps abreast of legislative changes effecting benefits to assist director in keeping all programs in compliance with federal and state regulations. Does research to explore potential new benefit offerings.Assures accurate allocation of benefits costs to various BHS Corporations.Responds to Benefit Survey requests for Baystate and does comparative benchmarking analysis of benefit programs at Baystate identified peer institutions. Perform pension interface with plan record keepers and IS essential for accurate pension payments and cost analysis.QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent working experienceExpert knowledge of all employee benefits (including defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans) and regulations affecting them. Requires knowledge of basic accounting principles. Advanced use of spreadsheets to effectively develop financial analyses. Comfortable with classroom and group presentations, excellent writing skills preferred.Hours/Shift: This is a full-time 40 hour first shift positionBaystate Health is an Equal Opportunity employer.
