About the Opportunity

NIT - Network Support department has an immediate opening for a Network Engineer - Senior, reporting to Manager-IT-Technology

What You Will Do:
  • The primary focus for this position will be leading implementation of network infrastructure for our new colocation data centers. Specifically, this resource will need to be able lead the effort to install, configure and test Cisco network equipment, Cisco router and switches, and ancillary network equipment. Participate in the DC modernization effort that will develop an enterprise-wide, unified strategy for the next generation of network infrastructure. Coordinate with technical and security teams to analyze and implement best-practices for securely operating enterprise network resources in the Colo. Identifies, analyzes and resolves design weaknesses.
  • Works Independently and in a team environment to build, configure, and implement the colocation DC network infrastructure. Perform additional engineering activities associated either directly or indirectly with this effort.
  • Oversees the deployment and configuration of infrastructure solutions
  • Follow FRBR change control processes when implementing changes on production network in support of building environments.
  • Lead the build of a production environment in full, including configurations and all required physical connectivity. Device builds and configurations across multiple platforms.
  • Lead the verification that production configurations and connectivity meet FRBR business requirements.
  • Create detailed Visio drawings of the production environments detailing physical connectivity and key logical configuration details.
  • Build test scripts to test functionality and resiliency of infrastructure and environment.
  • Validate and verify a comprehensive test plan to ensure production functionality and performance meets FRBR requirements.
  • Record and document all test outputs to test scripts.
  • Validate that equipment is adhering to, Security Assurance for the Federal Reserve (SAFR), and monitoring standards (Configuration Management Database ("CMDB"), Internet Protocol Address Management ("IPAM"), Network Management System ("NMS, etc.)
  • Device configuration translation/optimization and migration to new target hardware

Required Qualifications:
  • 10+ plus years building and troubleshooting Cisco network routing and switching enterprise environments
  • Network Routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, ISIS
  • Implement new environments, validate functionality and production readiness, document customer testing and operational sign off.
  • Documentation of environment as built, including operational turnover, and diagram
  • Establish and maintain documentation through best practice processes and procedures
  • Participates in the development, deployment and support of automating the build of IT Solutions
  • Ensures service targets and commitments are met as regards to delivery of IT solutions
  • Perform project management activities for IT initiatives as required
  • Provides assistances in leveraging technologies, processes, and disciplines for delivering best in class methods throughout IT Infrastructure
  • Analyzes and revises existing system logic and documentation as necessary
  • Directs technical discussions for both a technical and management audience
  • Partners with our clients and other resources in detecting critical network and infrastructure gaps or deficiencies in the IT environment and recommends solutions for improvement
  • Performs change and problem management using standard tools. Ensures conformance and compliance with existing system standards. Measures performance to ensure proper operation
  • Follows and ensures adherence to technical standards for design techniques
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Provides senior level technical guidance to other engineers assigned
  • Network WAN technologies MPLS over mGRE, WAN MACSec, MACSec, MACSec As a Service, IPSec
  • Experience with on-prem to Cloud Service Provider integration AWS/AZURE/Google Cloud Platform
  • Cisco Nexus 2K/5K/7K/9K series
  • Cisco Catalyst Catalyst 3K/4K/6K/8K/9K series
  • Cisco ASR/ISR 1K/4K/9K series routers
  • Good network fundamentals including the OSI model, TCP/IP, IPv4 and working knowledge of IPv6
  • Must be comfortable with Linux commands/file system
  • Strong technical knowledge of IT enterprise systems and tools
  • Must be able to create test scripts to test functionality and resiliency of infrastructure and environment
  • Gigamon is a plus
  • Netscout Infinistream is a plus
  • Advocent Terminal Servers is a plus
  • InfoBlox (DDI) is a plus
  • Ansible is a plus
  • Experience with IDS/IPS, ISE, network access control, F5 Big IP load balancers and Next Gen Firewalls preferred
  • Hands on experience with Cisco ACI multipod, multisite, multitenant, GOLF, EPG's, MP-BGP and ACI contracts preferred
