Visit kcnsc.doe.gov for more information about working for Honeywell at the Kansas City National Security Campus.JOB DUTIES:Honeywell is seeking a Band 4 Engineer for a plating, surface treatment, and materials processing role for defense programs application. Engineering activity in product requirements, surface processing methods and control, material selection and testing, and qualification is necessary for this specialty process role. This highly cross-functional role involves interaction with national laboratories, hi-tech product manufacturers, test/inspection sources, quality functions, and procurement agents. The successful candidate will have an ABET accredited degree in mechanical, metallurgical or materials science engineering, or a related degree such as Physics, with significant experience in a hi-tech materials processing environment.Summary of Duties:

Applies mathematical, physical science, and advanced engineering technologies in accomplishing engineering objectives

Interfaces and coordinates with customers, suppliers, and internal organizations to resolve design, development, production, and acceptance issues, both technical and programmatic

Leads, directs, influences or coordinates the work of a major project, product or process with responsibility for overall

department and project objectives, completion dates, and technical specifications.

Prepares comprehensive proposals/cost estimates and negotiates complex statements of work

Conducts considerable travel (30-50%) to support process evaluation at suppliers and design labs

Provides technical, project, and administrative guidance and coordinates efforts for other engineers

Champions initiatives to develop capabilities and resolve critical process and technology-related issues, and consults as technical expert to other personnel to drive and implement continuous improvement

Develops engineers, technicians, and support staff in work area through mentoring and role model behaviors

You Must Have:

US citizenship in order to obtain and maintain US Dept of Energy "Q" level security clearance

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, or Physics from an ABET accredited institution/program

7 or more years of progressive experience as an engineer in a technology or manufacturing environment

Minimum 3 years experience leading technical projects and involvement in materials processing and surface treatment of hardware

We Value:

Advanced degree in Engineering or Business

Ten (10) or mores yes progressive experience as an engineer in a technology or manufacturing environment.

Prior experience and demonstrated expertise in plating, precision cleaning, coatings, surface treatments, supplier interface, and/or industry standards.

Fluent use of software tools to facilitate analysis of large datasets · six sigma and DOE methods

Materials failure analysis experience
