Yellowstone County is seeking to fill an IT Support Specialist / Helpdesk position located downtown in the County Courthouse. This position is the first point of contact for our users when they have an issue, and the successful candidate will be able to respond to requests for service in a timely manner while providing excellent and friendly customer service.

Duties:

Provides a wide variety of computer and user support to ensure effective installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of computer hardware and software. The IT Computer Support Specialist has an overall understanding of computer hardware, peripherals, devices and software applications to independently install, maintain, and trouble-shoot hardware/software and resolve most client and PC problems. At this level, incumbents are developing an understanding of local-and wide-area networks and assist senior staff in the identification and resolution of network operating problems.

Examples of Duties:

- Tests and installs specific client applications and/or reports using County software packages;

- Installs, tests, troubleshoots, and maintains hardware and software products;

- Provide training to users on hardware and specific software applications;

- Begins to develop a basic understanding of local-and wide-area networks and assist senior staff in the identification and resolution of network operating problems;

- Provides software and hardware technical support to ensure clients' computers run efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Associate's degree in Computer Science or closely related field; and

- Minimum of one (1) years' experience with evaluating and resolving computer, system, and user problems including compatibility conflicts, application operations, and hardware malfunctions; installing and maintaining computer hardware, software; or

- Any equivalent combination of experience and training totaling three (3) years.

- Experience in providing one-to-one IT training beneficial.
