This total life cycle approach allows us to provide sustainable solutions that help our customers build a better world.The Caterpillar Remanufacturing Division of Mississippi currently has an opening for a Maintenance Apprentice Technician located in Corinth, Mississippi. The Facilities Maintenance Apprentice will provide support for assignments in any number of areas which impact building facility structures, troubleshoot and revise moderately complex facilities problems, perform support activities and assist in the day-to-day operations. This position will rotate through all areas of the facilities as a part of a defined training program. Job Responsibilities to include but not limited to: The key role of this position is to provide support for assignments in any number of functional areas. Challenges include meeting expectations in delivering results, learning to consider alternative courses of action, making timely decisions. Building structure and plant utilities knowledge, bridge and hoisting systems, electrical grid, supplier quotes, enter purchase requisitions and contractor projects. The apprentice will receive direction from the maintenance manager as well as current maintenance technicians assigned. The apprentice will ensure a good understanding of the work and that it is completed in a manner to best meet the intended purpose. Requests support as necessary from others. Communicates results with their supervisor. Assignments may affect others outside the immediate work group. Deals with day-to-day planning and execution of assignments. Incumbents may expect to have direct contact with other team members, other departments or units, customers or suppliers. The technician must be safety focused in knowledgeable of electrical hazards and capable of maintaining a forklift/scissor boom operator’s license. Troubleshoots day-to-day process problems, initiates solutions. Designs or directs the acquisition and repair of contractor work preformed. Monitors in-house requirements, monitors contractor work. Determines, contacts and negotiates with external suppliers. The position manages the completion of work assignments and coordinates work with others. Typical internal customers include the position's work group and immediate supervisor. External contacts include various customers, contractors and vendors. The position is challenged to quickly and correctly identify problems that may not be obvious. The incumbent solves problems by determining the best course of action, within facility guidelines, from many existing solutions. The job holder knows in advance the details of what needs to be done to serve customers and the standard procedures in place to accomplish it.QualificationsBasic Qualifications: Computer experience including e-mail and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) This position is only open to individuals who are currently enrolled in a Northeast Mississippi Community College Career Technical Education Program. Individuals currently enrolled or studying in the following Associate Degree Programs:Industrial Maintenance Technology, Electrical Technology, or Heating and Air Technology or other related discipline. Top Candidates Will Also Have: The position requires knowledge of various manufacturing and/or maintenance standards and practices. Experience working with AutoCADExcellent communication/interpersonal skills Ability to read and understand assembly blueprintsPhysical Requirements:Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. (Up to 12 hours per shift)Ability to perform repetitive operations Ability to lift up to 25lbs multiple times per shift.Must be able to wear proper PPE.Additional Information:Shift: 1stStarting Pay: $15.90This position is an apprenticeship with the possibility of becoming full-time depending on completion of the apprenticeship program, job performance and applicable/available job openings.This position will have a minimum 15 hour and maximum 32 hour scheduled work week.
