Position: Systems Engineer

Department: Information Technology

Reports To: Systems Engineering Manager

FLSA: Exempt

SUMMARYProvides initial design, implementation, integration, optimization, and technical documentation of all enterprise infrastructure systems with limited supervision. Engineers solutions for vastly complex problems that generally require in-depth analysis and creative thinking where innovation and a wide range of autonomy for decision making is required. Identifies errors that are often difficult to detect and performs root cause analysis in finding resolutions to problems that typically lack precedent. Develops and implements processes, procedures, and automations to support the organization's business requirements; meet compliance and security requirements; and meet the needs of end users. Facilitates projects and technology changes that impact multiple business units to deliver and optimize mission-critical IT services. Researches, recommends, develops, and integrates new technologies to meet the goals and support the strategic initiatives of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Design, implementation, and optimization of the Symitar financial system.
  • Design, implementation, and optimization of Windows, AIX, and Linux operating systems.
  • Design, implementation, and optimization of SAN (Storage Area Network) systems.
  • Design, implementation, and optimization of various enterprise technologies including but not limited to Active Directory, SQL, Exchange, Lync, SharePoint, SCCM, VMware, and Citrix.
  • Design, implementation and optimization of data replication technologies and system backups.
  • Design and implementation of disaster recovery plans and disaster recovery quality assurance testing for the server infrastructure to ensure business continuity.
  • Development and implementation of ACL’s, anti-virus, anti-spam, host-based firewalls, internet content filtering, data loss prevention, patch management and various other security elements.
  • Development and implementation of processes that ensure all enterprise systems are within vendor defined licensing compliance parameters.
  • Serves as a liaison between internal business units and outside vendors to effectively engineer and implement infrastructure modifications that further support the strategic initiatives of the organization.
  • Analyzing business unit needs and recommending priorities for the deployment of new enterprise systems and solutions.
  • Define system requirements and technical baselines based on organizational needs, costs, and required integrations with existing applications, systems, or platforms.
  • Development, testing, and implementation prototypes where a required solution is either nonexistent or unobtainable.
  • Actively maintains service requests and provides thorough documentation for problem resolution of tickets.
  • Responsible for compliance with all Federal regulations including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)
  • Utilizes The Member Advantage AIDINC system to identify potential member (internal or external) service needs which can be met through the sale of credit union products and services, or adherence to the department’s policy and procedures.

Education:Equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field).

Experience and Other Requirements:
  • Three to Five years of similar or related experience.
  • MCSE certification or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience required.
  • Superior analytic and problem-solving skills required.
  • Must possess excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be capable of working well with others and independently.
  • Must be able to perform all job functions with minimal supervision in a timely fashion.
  • Must be able to evaluate service requests and projects and prioritize as necessary.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality required.
  • Requires after-hours, weekends and on-call work as needed.
  • Some travel is required.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:MCSE or equivalent certification or must be willing to obtain certification within 12 months.
