Our client's location in St. Paul, MN., currently has an opportunity for a Manager Product Technology in Shared Services Engineering. This position is in the Product Technology group and will be working in a SOC2, ISO27001, and highly sensitive and secure environment providing platforms and services that company business partners can leverage to enable connected products (IoT) as well as product customers and clinicians. location: Saint Paul, Minnesotajob type: Permanentsalary: $140,000 - 150,000 per yearwork hours: 8am to 4pmeducation: Bachelors responsibilities:- Directs, manages, plans and administers the operational and administrative activities of the Shared Service Engineering section
- Manages staff responsible for all phases of the systems development and implementation process
- Platform owner for several shared and core services supporting Product related infrastructure services such as Infoblox, F5s, Routing/Switching, compute, base OS images, PKI, etc.,
- Responsible for Tier 2 support for shared services platforms, documentation, platform validations, and lifecycle management
- Responsible for enabling Tier 1 support for platforms through documentation, training, etc.
- Responsible for Tier 1 work when not defined and accepted for Tier 1 support team
- Responsible for proposing new designs that meet architecture principles and obtaining approvals
- Responsible for settings security and compliance guardrails/controls on platforms
- Enable tool suites for infrastructure automation and application deployment
- Responsible for partnering with SREs, PMs, and other Product Technology and internal business partner application teams as appropriate
- Define and create test cases, execute test activities and reports on progress
- Responsible for ensuring shared service backups, recovery, etc., meet SLOs/SLAs
- Responsible for showing compliance when needed
- Passion for IT, Infrastructure and core/shared services
- Implement and manage shared services while ensuring they are consumable by DevOps, application teams, etc.
- Work with Azure and Azure PaaS services
- Work in Waterfall and Agile project planning and executing work on sprint cycles
- Determine technical objectives of assignments. Exercise latitude in approach to solutioning
- Lead with Automation in testing or orchestration for coordination with SREs and DevOps
- Lead scripting and other similar automation capabilities, including REST APIs and JSON
- Manage vendor relationships along with procurement and Product Technology Operations
- Mentor the team as the subject matter expert (SME) and manager for the shared services
- Be the SME with networking components, primarily firewalls and load-balancers/reverse proxies such F5 LTM/GTM, Palo Altos, or Azure native services
- Manage staff and work with core/shared services such as Active Directory, DNS, RHEL, Windows Server, Artifactory, SMTP relays, etc.
- Manage and monitor system performance optimization, maintenance and production support (if escalated to)
- Refine conceptual system requirements into a technical design consisting of job flows and program specifications
- Understand customers' business objectives and system requirements and work closely with customers to determine their strategic requirements and measure performance against expectations. Assist in customer resolutions
- Responsible for staying abreast of new developments in technologies and making recommendations as appropriate
- Will apply certification and Product Security policies and standards when performing all duties
- Degree in computer science, networking or related IT field and 7+ years experience or 10+ years of equivalent IT experience
- 4-5 years of senior/principle Infrastructure engineer experience with multiple technologies such as supporting Product related infrastructure services such as Infoblox, F5s, Routing/Switching, compute, base OS images, PKI, etc
- 3-4 years of combined technical team lead and manager experience
- Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization
- Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance
- 2+ years of Azure exposure/experience preferred
- Professional IT certifications such as CISCO or F5 are a plus but not required
- Manage a team of about 7 people (contractors/FTE)
- Experience level: Manager
- Minimum 7 years of experience
