DescriptionOur Oakland County client is in need of a Senior Payroll Supervisor. The Senior Payroll Supervisor will be responsible to plan and direct the work assignments of Payroll and Accounts Payable units to ensure compliance with employee data continuity between the system, labor union contracts, policies/procedures, and/or legal requirements. In addition, the Senior Payroll Supervisor is responsible for the administration, implementation, and compliance of various federal/state/local regulations, including research, preparation, and submission of responses to inquiries from such entities. The Senior Payroll Supervisor will also be responsible for monthly activities, i.e. reporting and forecasting, as well as operation and strategic planning.What you get to do every single dayConduct accurate payroll analysis
Present accurate and detailed information and respond to questions from senior executives and cross-functional business leaders
Recruit and retain a team, as well as motivate it to success
Oversee pre- and post-payroll auditing/reconciling procedures, as well as troubleshoot anomalies
Lead payroll staff
Help oversee internal and external audits
Partner with other areas in Finance, as well as Human Resources, Tax, IT, and other departments as necessary for reporting, compliance and strategic analysis
Produce all weekly, monthly, and special compensation payroll runs, in addition to explaining pay policies (LOA, disability, worker's compensation, vacation, bonus, etc.) and ensuring proper amounts/deductions are applied to earnings codes in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws
Develop ideas with fellow members of the senior Finance leadership team
Produce internal safeguards by overseeing record-keeping and control systems
RequirementsThe ideal Senior Payroll Supervisor will have at least five (5) years of full-time work experience in financial analysis, business administration, general accounting, cost accounting, economic analysis, systems analysis, including two (2) years in a supervisory position. In addition to Workday and advanced Excel with pivot tables and V lookups. This is a 6 to 12-week project for the right candidate.Proven knowledge of Financial Audits
Direct Supervision experience preferred
Proficiency in Payroll Tax Reporting
Payroll Tax experience preferred
Solid understanding of Union Payroll
Financial analysis experience
This position requires strong interpersonal skills for the candidate to be successful
Comfortable with payroll applications
Know-how of payroll-related cloud-based technology solutions
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Certified Payroll Profession (CPP) certification advantageous
